Zagreb Airport outlines planned runway work

NEWS FLASH

Zagreb Airport will begin work on its runway on May 2, resulting in its closure to traffic between 23.00 and 06.25 the following morning. The work is scheduled to be completed by May 31 at the latest. As EX-YU Aviation News learns, Zagreb Airport will undertake an upgrade of its Aeronautical Ground Lighting system, with the first phase to involve exchanging the existing threshold and runway end from halogen to LED. This also includes an upgrade of the CCRs (Constant Current Regulators) and the ALCMS (Airfield Lightning Control System). The second phase will include a new approach, that is all Aeronautical Ground Lighting-related equipment. A fifty-person team is involved in the project. Ryanair has been most affected by the airport’s night-time closure, with over 110 flights cancelled in May.

    Could this not have been done in winter or in some slower months and not in the summer season?

      Pozdrav I hope as many Ryanair flights as possible are affected!
      At Ryanair is where the real criminality lies, trying to destroy a country's flag carrier!

      @pozdrav iz Rijeke
      That is less than four flights a day affected!
      In order to make the runway better and safer.
      But you are right, it is a disaster! :D :D :D

    Ok, prvo sam mislio radi se na na samoj pisti i rulnici, u smislu promjene asfaltbetona, ili krpanje, pa ce radit sad kad su vremenski uvjeti prihvatljiviji (temperatura, vlaga), ali s obzirom da se radi na izmjeni rasvjete, to se svakako moglo odraditi u periodu zimskog reda letenja, a ne sad kad krece sve jači promet...
