NEWS FLASH

TUI Airways inaugurated seasonal flights from both Manchester and London Gatwick to Ohrid this week, complementing TUI fly Netherlands, also part of the TUI Group, which has been maintaining seasonal services from Amsterdam to Ohrid for several years. Thew new services from the United Kingdom will run once per week each until September 20 with the 189-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Some 6.000 British tourists are expected to be handled on the flights. Commenting on the new route launches, the General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of new seasonal flights, operated by TUI UK connecting Manchester and London to Ohrid Airport. As TAV, we are excited to welcome passengers on these new routes. These two new destinations from Great Britain will offer enhanced travel options and open opportunities for travellers to explore the breathtaking beauty and rich cultural heritage of picturesque Ohrid”. Chris Logan, Managing Director for TUI - Ski, Lakes & Mountains, added, “North Macedonia has been a less well-known destination for UK holiday makers, but that is starting to change, and TUI are confident that as soon as our customers return home, word of mouth will spread to friends and family to experience this unique destination for themselves. We will be sending two flights a week to Ohrid Airport for the summer season, from both Manchester and London Gatwick, giving great choice for customers in both the North and South of the UK”.

During the January - April period, Ohrid Airport welcomed 56.069 passengers, which is up 33.3% on last year, and an increase of 23.3% on the pre-pandemic 2019. Aircraft movements stood at 324, up 8.4% on last year.

Because obviously the subventions ended. Like WizzAir always does with routes, unless this was unknown so far. As if there was such a high deman to fly to London or actutually to a remote airport, which has nothing to do with the city.

That's great!!! Ohrid airport deserves more flights! Ohrid airport also deserves a higher subsidy per flight from the government too, since there is barely any transport from Skopje to the airport in Skopje. Only few times per day. Let alone getting to the airport in Skopje without driving by yourself for flights at 6 or 7 am.

Ohrid airport is perfect for us that live in cities that are far from Skopje. Such a pity that there aren't that many destinations from Ohrid airport.

There would be more bus connections if people would actually take it. Only foreigners take the bus, yugo people would only go by car as if its a status symbol

I live in a city two hours away from Skopje. There have been so many times that I didn't fly because my parents can't drive me or there isn't a van that early. Regular public transport is not only for foreigners
