Austrian Airlines to boost Zagreb service

Austrian Airlines will increase operations between Vienna and Zagreb this coming winter season to twelve weekly flights, up from daily last year. The carrier will operate two daily rotations on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, as well as one flight on Tuesdays and Sundays. All will be maintained with the 120-seat Embraer E195 jet. Overall, for the duration of the winter season, from October 29 until March 30 of next year, Austrian will boast 239 departing flights from Vienna to Zagreb, up 67% on the previous winter, and offer 28.680 seats in each direction, up 66.6%.

      We have those here in SLO, too! Here, the very individuals who have been associated with the challenges and setbacks in our aviation industry are showing interest in establishing yet another airline. It's quite astonishing how these same figures, often criticised as gravediggers and nepotists, are now positioning themselves to launch a new venture. What adds to the frustration is that the burden of financial support falls on us, regular people. The irony of the situation is hard to overlook.

      Misetic was the best CEO Croatia Airlines ever had. It was Kucko that reduced the network, sold all the assets off and caused a deterioration of the onboard experience!

      He may have been a good CEO or not, that's not the point of argument. What he's been doing since the last restructuring (preventing further development of the carrier at its own hub, "strongly advising" to tighten relationship with Lufthansa and encouraging the carrier to become a cheap (at least cheaper than Lufthansa) feeder of Lufthansa group hubs) is damaging company and helps to boost his own pocket.

      The best CEO who handed over entire croatian market to LH, for his personal benefits, namely position in the Star Alliance Board of Directors. The best CEO who cemented the role of OU as pathetic feeder and humiliated servant. The best CEO who "helped" ZAG not to grow into real hub. The best CEO who was appointing his nephews and friends to key positions in the company. The best CEO who managed to discontinue every single relation with the Unions. The best CEO who acquired Q400 's on double leases, through two companies one of which is basically his and where he gets his share. The best CEO who left company totally destroyed and Kucko had to do things which came as a consequence and result of the best CEO. And you talk about "onboard experience". I mean are you for real?

    Austrian adding five more flights per week is additional pressure on weaker member of the two members of the Star Alliance. Passengers will now have more choice to fly and will need less time for transfers in Vienna. Long term this is not a good development for Croatia Airlines at their Zagreb hub. They are not being pushed out by competitors like Ryanair but, worse of all, by their alliance partner.
