7% less in July than last year is nothing when you consider that wizz had 6 or 8 daily flights lol

Will we still be able to see 1 million passengers.

If we think about it, the situation is not so bad.
SJJ and TZL have never served more than 2 million passengers (even with the Wizz Air family).
As a replacement for Wizz Air, I would like some new destinations, for example from Norwegian or Eurowings. And if possible something more like SAS, easyJet, Finnair.

Sarajevo Airport plays dirty for years.
Some airlines, like austrian airlines (lufthansa) are very privileged, should I say they have exclusive rights.

We are talking about 1 milion passengers instead of why they do not have 5 milions passengers per year.

They need companies like ryan air, norwegian air, wizz air, etc.

We need proper bus line from center to airport. Proper access for taxi companies to airport instead of current small group, etc.

Sarajevo is better off without LCC's. They have a great variety of full service carriers who pay the proper rate for Sarajevo Airport's services. Airports that are being ripped off by Ryanair haven't a great long term business model

I disagree they lcc’s employ stewardesses, pilots and ground stuff. What are they gonna do. The stewardesses and ground stuff are probably gonna find an job that pays similair in Bosnia. But the pilots either have to move from Bosnia of find a job that is under their education level. IDK if JU and OU are looking for pilots. I am sure they can use some extra pilots in Tirana but that far from Sarajevo.

Diaspora is gonna travel less by plane. In the high season they are oke wirh paying higher prices. But off season cheap tickets are very important. Something main airlines cannot offer( ofc off season is a bit cheaper but you will not find an return flight under €100. Something Wizz offers. Bosnian diaspora didn’t fly that often back home. Now either worse because large part will lose their flight from their local airport to Bsonia.

Same goes for European tourists who look often for cheap flights. These won’t be available for them. They might compensate that loss with gulf tourists.

Also airlines as Austrian, Lufthansa, JU, TK and Flydubai are not gonna increase much maybe total 8 more frequencies and that is a very positive prediction while you lose 30 frequencies or more. That is defenitly not more income for the airport even though the main carriers pay more. Lifthansa knows Bosnia is gonna lose Wizzair but they weren’t really interested in increasing SJJ. While other airports as BEG,SKP were lcc’s increased their capacity Lufthansa also did that.

And even if we accept that current carrier pay more and that airport earns more, which is great for the profitability, it means absolutely nothing for the people because they are left without connections. All those Saaudiarabian carries who maybe pay more to the airport are not at all used by local population.

I wonder how things would have went if instead of Wizz closing the Sarajevo base first, they closed Tuzla? Maybe they would still be in Sarajevo? But then again maybe it would be no different?

me too. but marek doesnt want to.

but for political reasons would have to set up a subsidiary and use different branding to use those planes from sarajevo.

Different branding is not going to happen.

Sarajevo is doing very well. With or without LCC seasonal impact alone will bring high yield revenues. It might take time but eventually remaining European hubs will be connected with proper airlines and good cooperation with Canton of Sarajevo. When it comes to Wizzair, best of luck. Good news is they provided opportunities for their local Bosnian colleagues who use to be employed for them at the time. The best for Sarajevo Airport is yet to come. Bravo Sarajevo.
