NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has expanded its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines by placing its designator code and flights numbers onto the latter’s services between Istanbul and Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver as of today. Tickets are available for purchase through Air Serbia’s website. Previously, EX-YU Aviation News exclusively reported in June that the Serbian carrier had been issued codeshare permits from the Canadian Transportation Agency. Commenting on the development, Air Serbia’s Manager for International Affairs and Alliances, Ivana Miklja Mučalov, said, “We continue to develop our longstanding partnership with Turkish Airlines. Thanks to this new expansion of the codeshare agreement, passengers will have the opportunity to travel via Istanbul to three important and large Canadian cities. The service to Canada is of great importance for the large diaspora from the wider Balkan region, as well as for all others who want to visit Canada for business or tourism”. Air Serbia now codeshares on 21 routes operated by Turkish Airlines. The Serbian carrier is considering introducing nonstop services to Toronto as its third destination in North America.

An even worse value prop than transferring through eu airports. Why would we backtrack? Fares are high too.

How are flights from BEG via IST to Abu Dhabi, Almaty, Ankara, Adana, Amman, Antalya, Bodrum, Cairo, Dalaman, Gaziantep, Gazipasa, Izmir, Kayseri, Tel Aviv and Trabzon backtracking? Three Canadian airports and Sao Paulo are, but for a different reason.

Unless you lack reading skills the title refers to Canada codeshares.

That's why you need to start reading the whole article, not just the title. As for Canada routes, everyone knows TK does offer cheap fares between BEG and Canada and some passengers are willing to backtrack a bit for lower price and better service.

I live in Vancouver, and every time I checked prices with Turkish, it was more expensive then others.

I live in Toronto and Turkish is always more expensive than the AC-LH group combo. Not a good value prop to backtrack and then pay more for the privilege.

Compare prices on a regular basis. As for backtracking, many from VIE, ZAG and LJU are backtracking to BEG to take Air Serbia flight to JFK if the price is right.

I travel to Belgrade at least 2-3x a year and Turkish has never been close to cheap. Always a couple hundred more than AC-LH.

I care about two things when I’m flying to Serbia. Price and time. With both Turkish fails. I really don’t care about service. I sleep.

I often found fares cheaper through IST than FRA to YYZ. Plus you've gotta love that lounge in Istanbul ;)

If Air Serbia launches Toronto service those codeshares could help send passengers to their destination via IST when BEG-YYZ flight is cancelled.

Interesting comments. I fly both Turkish and Austrian across the pond. Both are very affordable but Turkish is without a doubt one of the best airlines in the world.
