NEWS FLASH

Luxembourg’s national carrier Luxair launched flights between the Grand Duchy and Ljubljana yesterday, linking the two cities for the first time with a scheduled air service. Flights will operate twice per week, each Thursday and Sunday, with the 76-seat Dash 8 turboprop aircraft. The service will continue throughout the 2023/24 winter season, which begins on October 29, with the airline anticipating 12.000 passengers on the route per year. Luxair has introduced flights between the two after securing Slovenian state subsidies aimed at boosting the country’s air connectivity. Among the 62 passengers on the 76-seat Dash 8 aircraft were Luxair’s Chief Commercial Officer, Thomas Fischer. and Slovenia’s Ambassador in Brussels, Barbara Sušnik, while the turboprop was welcomed by Ljubljana Airport’s Head of Airline Management, Janez Krašnja, Luxembourg’s Ambassador to Slovenia, Jean Graff, and the State Secretary at the Ministry for Infrastructure, Andrej Rajh.

Commenting on the new service, Mr Fischer, said, “We have been considering these flights for a long time having in mind the Slovenian community in Luxembourg, which pointed out the importance of a nonstop air service between the two countries. We scheduled the flights so as to enable passengers onward connections from Luxembourg”. Mr Rajh noted, “This new service has great potential, as Luxembourg is the seat of several European institutions and an important economic centre. It is also an excellent starting point for connecting flights to other countries. We are not satisfied with the current state of air connectivity in Slovenia, so we will continue our efforts to improve it".

Welcome Luxair! It's a real shame Ljubljana Airport has done virtually no promotion of this. They put one photo on facebook with one sentence, as if they get new airlines every other day.

They posted in IG. There were articles in media so they did it. There was also a banner/landing page with luxair

62/76 pax is a decent number - maybe it's time for OU to open Zag-Lux route in the summer?

Well, for at least some EU institutions based there. And for EU Parliament sessions that periodically take place in Lux.

where are now those individuals, screaming all day "we don't want to feed any money into Adria any more..."
Well, you are feeding another hungry horse now....I wonder how the load will be next time, and next time...when photo shooting is over....

I'll give it 2 months max, before "pausing" the operations.

Hahaha or Analitičar himself. He holds an expertise on Slovenian air connectivity. Lately.

The main problem is not even "Analitičar", the main problem are journalists, who don’t recognise him as Baba Vanga of aviation.

Fun fact, I've just flown out of Ljubljana today, and in the business lounge there is a screen proudly showcasing destinations out of Ljubljana

Of course without Luxembourg being listed, so anyone saying "good job Fraport" i would be quiet

At least salted pretzels are back!!

Looking at departures board, there is more than 3h gap between WAW and IST flight. An only 10 flights between 13-21h. Ljubljana should do much better I think.
