NEWS FLASH

Air France held talks with the Slovenian Ministry for Infrastructure last month over possible incentive shcemes for the airline to add more flights between Paris and Ljubljana next year. “We were presented with their [Air France’s] idea for improving Slovenia's air connectivity by increasing frequencies to Paris. They pointed out the importance of boosting frequencies due to the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympic Games [to be held in Paris]. They currently operate ten weekly flights, and for the 2023/24 winter season plan eleven weekly frequencies. There are currently no plans to increase frequencies for the 2024 summer season. In that regard, the carrier was interested in various incentive options, including joint promotion”, the Ministry said.

That's just active bullying at this point. AF knows that Slovenia has no other option but to pay them, even though the flights are (in my experience) always 85%+ full

Yes, bullying indeed. Never liked AF as an airline, plus they do not have the best safety record ever compared to the rest of the Western European big carriers. During the last 35 years, they had 3 accidents, tow of which fatal ad the third one was because of pilot error. If you compare them to BA or QF or even IB, the number is quite high. Also CDG is a nightmare of an airport especially for transfers. Barajas or Zurich are 100 times better.

Nothing worse than CDG. Avoid it at almost any price.

Before corona, I rarely flew via CDG, mostly via FRA. Now significantly more often via CDG and rather than via FRA: delays at CDG airport are less frequent than at FRA, at CDG they have significantly improved the transition protocols between terminals and also boarding procedures, I have never been left without luggage via CDG in last two years, AF customer care is now much, much better than at LH. I also prefer the food vendors at CDG over FRA :)

My personal opinion is that ZRH is the best transfer point right now if you are westbound. Talking from LJU perspective.

It seems their cancelation of the morning departure (also in S24) is going into the same direction... But they can not apply for subsidies as they are not eligible (only the new routes are), so I am not sure what they are targeting with the state...

Mentioned joint promotion, e.g. with The Slovenian Tourist Board, is perfectly fine.

For Fraport it's better if passengers fly via FRA.

If LJU was profitable airlines would be lining up to fly there, it seems who has established themselves there is fine while the rest will move in with a subsidy

For what destination the airlines are lining up to fly in Ex-Yu? Name me one city ( not popular for summer only ). I will tell you, the answer is none.

I would love to see them applying to SKP subsidy scheme and launch Paris flights, we can't with Wizz Air monopoly on that route which can be so expensive especially in summer

The tickets are the cheapest 4 to 6 weeks before the flight. This works everytime for me, i found return flight to CPH for 25 euros.
