No progress for Air Montenegro’s Tuzla flight permit

Air Montenegro is still awaiting approval from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Civil Aviation Directorate to establish planned flights from Tuzla to destinations in Europe. The airline is already engaging with regulators from several countries to which it intends on flying to from Tuzla in order to streamline the process once and if it is issued approval in Bosnia and Herzegovina itself. According to the “Klix.ba” portal, Air Montenegro intends on basing an aircraft in Tuzla and operating up to twenty weekly flights to ten European destinations. Such a development would be significant for Tuzla Airport after the closure of Wizz Air’s base in the city last month and the significant decrease in flights and capacity by its only scheduled airline operator.

    On one hand its good for 40 to find new opportunities to grow and make money. but sad that they are giving up on their own market and just going to bosnia.
    hopefully they look to expand their operation from MNE and start more routes there.

      Overall I would compare the 40 to the YM. There are still gaps, but I think they will be filled, namely - Rome and German destinations, then more. Air Montenegro is a new airline.Next years they'll grow as YM.

      They completely lost the Serbia-Montenegro market, whereas Montenegro Airlines dominated in this sector. Also, not being able to sell connecting flights and have ccoperation with any other airline for over 2 years is an absolute disaster.

      It's not just about transferring it is about anyone using Air Montenegrro to reach Montenegro from a destinatiom they don't fly to. They are not even in IATA clearing house for god's sake.

      You would be surprised how many transfers were in TGD during YM time.

      I was flying route BEG-TGD-FRA many times as the price was significantly cheaper than direct flight BEG-FRA.

      The same was for flights to CDG,FCO, ZRH...

      I transferred in *TIV*. Hilarious, I know. There was a once weekly flight from Paris to Tivat and it made much more sense to connect to Belgrade that way (because we absolutely needed the return flight to come directly from Montenegro to Paris). It was a very interesting experience. Obviously the airport in Tivat has zero infrastructure for this. We just joined the mob to the passport control and passed the time landside sipping drinks in the only cafe. We were lucky to have a few euros in cash because this international airport to this day does not have either an ATM or an exchange office.

      If you have Jordan Aviation in mind, it just doesn't work. As for flight permits - only ACMI can. So many airlines from countries like Ukraine, Turkey operate with their TCO (but only ACMI).

      These things take time in much more developed countries, a realistic goal for Tuzla would be to launch flights in Q1 2024, they're trying to do it within a month like it's a bus line and not a regulated market

      Traces of common sense are blocking it or just pure luck....you have one and a half airplane, you have two airports as a base, have absolute knowledge about your own market and you are applying in a third country for work. The only explanation could be that this is Balkan business from caffe and possibility to put other people money in your own pocket. Please BIH CAA do not give the permission to fly from TZL, thanks
