Belgrade Airport handles seven-millionth passenger

NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport welcomed its seven-millionth passenger of the year today for the first time in its history. The milestone was achieved on Air Serbia’s flight departing Belgrade for Lisbon. The passenger in question received two complimentary return tickets to a destination of her choice within Air Serbia’s network. “We are delighted that we will welcome over seven million passengers this year, especially considering that we have surpassed the record of 6.2 million travellers handled for the whole of the pre-pandemic 2019. This result has been achieved, in large part, due to Air Serbia, which is also breaking records in terms of passengers carried and destinations launched, as well as the significant contribution by other airline partners. The dynamic traffic recovery and constant work on the expansion, modernisation and capacity growth show that we are on a good path towards our airport becoming a key regional hub”, the General Manager of Belgrade Airport, Francois Berisot, said.

Something seems off. Does it mean that in all of November they welcomed 301.000 passengers? That would be down from 456.000 last year.

My guess is that they chose this person randomly.

Belgrade Airport is usually late with their press announcement. I guess that this happened couple days ago.

Probably they waited for the GM to return back from a trip, to pose for the picture.

Of course it's random. How would they know which passenger exited the plane as 7 millionth if several aircraft are disembarking at the same time?

Or waiting for the pax to return from Lisbon!

The passenger was departing TO Lisbon.

These things are randomly chosen and you can do it any time. I remember in 2019 they marked the 6 millionth passengers more than 20 days after they actually handled the 6 millionth passengers.
