Croatia Airlines wins Mostar flight tender

NEWS FLASH

Croatia Airlines has been selected as the winner of a recent public call for the upkeep of three weekly flights between Mostar and Zagreb in 2024. It was the only airline to apply for the tender organised by local authorities in Mostar for flights to the Croatian capital in return for subsidies. The value of the contract has not been disclosed. The agreement between Mostar Airport and Croatia Airlines will be signed next month, while last week the Croatian carrier put tickets on sale for the route throughout 2024. Local authorities have launched another public call for the introduction of flights from Mostar to other European destinations in return for subsidies. It is believed Croatia Airlines could apply for this tender as well. Earlier this year, Mostar Airport said it was in talks with the Croatian carrier over potential scheduled services to Rome in 2024.

      Or the Croatian PSO.
OU is the queen of subsidies.

There is a difference, Niš is in Serbia, Mostar is not in Croatia. This is more like Wizz winning tenders in SKP.

It was a tender for ZAG-OMO flights and a Croatian airline won. Chillax

Niš tender was won by the one and only company that applied for it. Works in public interest and money stays in Serbia - not going into pockets of a foreign owned company. What’s the problem?

Yeah they should've given it to a Bosnian airline. Smh

See nothing wrong with what OU are doing. If it is bringing them easier money with no competition, why not? OMO also has a lot of potential as an airport especially for religious tourism. It should be classified as one of the most important in the entire Balkans for this type of tourism and most importantly destined to Poland. OU may try launching charters from OMO to various parts of Poland.

Do people really care about Medjugorje? Vatican didn't recognise it and honestly I have never ever heard anyone talk about it in any context, except on this site where people are always mentioning it?
Not only I don't believe in the wanderer, I don't believe it can make a wander for OMO either.

Same here. I don’t know anything about it and I was raised Catholic. But if they say it has 1 million+ visitors per year, then it’s got to mean something to some people I suppose. 🤷‍♂️ Time will tell.

There was a discussion in the heavens about where to go on holidays this year, and Mary said: let's go somewhere we've never been to.... Međugorje

Slovenian here, Međugorje is pretty massive here for pilgrims...larger than Lourdes and Saint James', if I had to guess.

I've been a very happy user of the route, as it's such a hassle free option compared to leaving in good time just to kill a couple hours in an empty SJJ or SPU terminal. Would be really nice if JU starts operations as well, but having OU secured for the summer season is great in itself.

Some connectivity, and especially legacy/hub carries, is better than noting at all.

But the timings are so bad. I wanted to go for a short trip from Zagreb to Mostar and there's just no way of making it work. There's no morning flight from Zagreb on any day. And flights back are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

Yeah the schedule's quite odd. Like I get they want to align it with the outbound morning flights from ZAG, but it then leads to these late evening flights back to OMO. It doesn't make for good weekend trips from ZAG to Mostar, but it's probably the best compromise.

OU not having proper waves of flights at ZAG is the real problem.

    4. You could have said it without "not having proper waves of flights". OU at ZAG is the real problem. That would be enough. Not only about OMO but overall. The way they do what they are supposed to do, better they don't exist. Such a shame, humiliation and disappointment, and just for personal benefits of few mafiosos.
