NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has scheduled and put on sale its new service between Belgrade and Mostar, which will mark the resumption of flights between the two cities after 33 years. As previously reported, operations will be maintained three times per week, on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays, starting April 15. A wet-leased 88-seat Embraer E175 aircraft operated on Air Serbia’s behalf by Marathon Airlines will be deployed on the route. Further flight details can be found here. The new service is a result of a public call by local authorities in Mostar offering subsidies for the launch of new flights to the city. Air Serbia's CEO, Jiri Marek, said, "We are confident that this route will be beneficial to passengers, and have a positive impact on economic and industrial growth, facilitating cultural exchange, and contributing to even better cooperation in the Western Balkans. By adding Mostar to our network, we will be flying to a total of seventeen cities in the former Yugoslavia, thus connecting the region, via Belgrade, to destinations across Europe, North America, and Asia offered by Air Serbia".

Finally. I have said in previous topics related to this route that I have wanted to visit Mostar for some time but did not feel like driving there or worse yet catching a bus. Will definitely buy a ticket today.

OU will and should care. Yes their OMO flights get subsidies but they had transfers who were filling flights from ZAG. These guys will switch to flying via BEG now.

I flew from ZAG to SJJ last night (1.2.2024). Flights to Skoplje, Sarajevo and Mostar were departing at same time, three gates next to each other. Skoplje 70pax, Sarajevo 50pax, Mostar 8pax. Zagreb just doesn't provide the connectivity Mostar needs.

This is fantastic for Mostar’s tourism. I’ve personally never visited (mainly because of the road situation), but I’d be happy to book a flight now

That's because of bura which appears from across the mountains. OU pilots are trained for that because of their domestic network. JU doesn't have the need for that so ATR is out of question.

    5. Anonymous16:21

It's got nothing to do with who is trained for bura or not, because JU goes into Tivat normally. But I believe it has to do with a/c performance issues where ATR would be sble to bring on board a dozen pax maximum just like it has issues with landing at SJJ with marginal weather. Hence, why the Q400 is the beast performance wise for operating into these airports.
