Austrian Airlines flight crew are staging industrial action tomorrow, Thursday March 28, and on Friday March 29, over a pay dispute, resulting in the cancellation of 400 flights affecting 50.000 passengers. Over the impacted two-day period, Austrian was to operate 24 flights from Vienna to cities within the former Yugoslavia, including six flights to Belgrade, four to Sarajevo and Zagreb, three to Pristina and Skopje, two to Podgorica, and one each to Dubrovnik and Split.
As a result of the industrial action, all twelve flights from Vienna to cities in the former Yugoslavia have been cancelled on Thursday. On the other hand, on Friday, out of the three daily flights from Vienna to Belgrade, one (OS735) has been cancelled. On the same day, the airline will run both its flights to Sarajevo. One of the two daily Zagreb flights (OS681) has been cancelled. Its sole Pristina flight on Friday (OS767) has been cancelled. The carrier’s only service to Skopje on Friday (OS777) has been cancelled. Austrian’s Podgorica and Split rotation on Friday will go ahead as scheduled, while its service to Dubrovnik (OS731) has been cancelled.
What a pity, I guess the employees have their reasons. The Lufti-Group has become greedy.

ReplyDeleteAnother joke of an airline still flying with 25 year old 767s and not mention 27 year old A321s. Overpriced, exhausted. That coming from a "rich" country. 767 is an excellent aircraft, but developed countries are now flying A350s and even Uganda has A330 neo. Good luck with Ryanair eating you alive in VIE and with your 2 future routes lol

DeleteI flew on Delta 767 and it was nicer than the Iberia A350 i flew on. Delta has a better product than Iberia.

DeleteI fly on Austrian 767 to Montreal 1 month ago , for first time the plane was ok , good space for me I am 1.83 cm , the take off and landing was very smooth and nice. But the service was bad , on 9h15m flight only one hot meal and one little cold sendvich is very very bad. Still shows that for long trips Turkish airlines is the best , 2 hot meals , great offer to choose , big select of drinks the service great. When returning home definitly I book TK. And yes with 777-300 or A350
DeleteIf the criteria for a rich country is to throw money into buying the shiniest and biggest airplanes then God help us. EU is not Qatar or Uganda wasting money on vanity projects and treating their employees like slaves. I rather avoid such "rich" countries and fly in a 25 year old 767.

ReplyDeleteOverpriced? I will fly Austrian from the US to Beg every time. Air Serbia is overpriced. And Air Serbia only flies out of JFK from the Tri - state NY area.
ReplyDeleteAustrian is amazing, I have no idea why people who haven't even flown them talk bad things. OS & LX are the good airlines in LH group and one of the better ones in Europe.
