NEWS FLASH
The Slovenian government is preparing to issue a sixth public call for airlines by the end of the year, offering subsidies to encourage the launch of new routes to the country. This follows the failure of the recent fifth tender, in which no airlines applied. The terms and conditions of the upcoming call are anticipated to remain the same. So far, the country has spent just 1.1 million euros out of the 16.8 million it has earmarked for the subsidies.
Same tender, same results. What are they thinking it will be different? Maybe one or two routes because it’s summer..
ReplyDeleteThey are not thinking. They are just doing something because they have no other better idea or plan.
DeleteBravo Fraport!
ReplyDeleteThat is a Government tender.
DeleteAlthough it is highly likely that Fraport convinced them to participate in the sabotaging of LJU traffic!
It is possible that successive Slovenian governments for years are following a policy similar to North Korea's in order to minimize the number of foreigners entering the country!
The final receiver of the subsidy is Fraport
DeleteMhhh, less competition and more profits for Fraport
DeleteEinstein said “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing yet expecting different results.”
ReplyDelete@sloveniangovernment
DeleteAt this pace of spending, they will be organizing these tenders for the next 10 years.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know how a public call works? Do they have unpublished emails from routes managers from all airlines and they send it or are airlines looking anywhere ? I have no idea
ReplyDeleteIf I know anything about slovenia, the employees on the ministry lift their hands up as soon as tender is published
DeleteYes they kept us with their teachers and our schlossers 46 year down.
DeleteYou don't need airlines that you need to personally inform about the tender. They all know, just it does not pay off to get paid per passenger when there are no passengers.
DeleteThank you
DeleteMan I hope the results will be different this time around but I severely doubt it
ReplyDeleteThis is a comedy
ReplyDeleteVolotea
ReplyDeleteVolotea to BCN, seasonal would work
DeleteA lot of routes would work, it's the question of yield
DeleteAlso whether they can fill airplanes enough. Even if BCN-LJU would be profitable, why not just add frequencies BCN-Manchester, London or Bristol, if those will have near 100% LF at 150€ per leg
Delete@12:40
DeleteExactly, but that is something very few people in our region want to understand.
^That's why we have so many subsidies. Only way to compete for aircrafts with behemoth markets for leisure tourism like Germany, Belgium, UK and the Netherlands. Luxembourg has more pax than Zagreb without any LCCs and a fraction of the population
Deleteno words for the government .... Mrs. Bratusek was at the time of collapse of Adria Airways and now she is hardly pushing this tenders. Its like feeding the pigs for making sausages for vegetarians! Thats just crazy.
ReplyDeleteTender will not solve the nonexistent passengers. Tender helps with profitability not with demand.
DeleteSo according to you all 5 paid airlines are flying empty?
DeleteAlso the demand for 3 daily flights we had to London before 2019 simply vanished to the shadow realm?
DeleteBut we still had 9000 + passenger in November 2023 and this year we have 4000 sheduled sits. Demand from London still exist.
DeleteIf this trend continues we will be luckly if we even have flights to London.
DeleteBaznian from LJU seek ISTanbul not Londra.
DeleteHow many of those 9000 pax helped the airline generate a profit? Much better to guarantee a profit with 4000 pax.
DeleteSo London flights were profitable before and now they aren't? Fraport hiked up fees? No surprise here, they don't care.
DeletePlease stop with that ill mentality that nothing can be profitable in Slovenia. First of all listen to the economy to companies, banks etc. discuss the best option with slovenian tourist board to support with PR and marketing. Do the german owners of LJU stoping the development of the airport? Right, the state ownes also MBX and connect with non LH group airlines through it...
DeleteYep low cost from the village of MBX was a real success.
DeleteAnonymous 20:20 I see you are a specialist in be wisdom but you see all black! A pity.... Bratislava survives 40 km away from Vienna... so come on! If we know what we will do, then invite journalist and make stories at least 1 year ahead and repeat it till beginn. In the same period Slovenian tourist Board should support with marketing on all workshops, media events etc. and do not start to sell ticket 1 week before flights, use yielding of prices and do it online without calling agencies.... I moved out of Slovenia because there are so many clever people out of the couch that are saying yeah it didnt work, its not worth... come on its worth if you know what you do!

ReplyDeleteAir Koryo
DeleteI flew on Nauru Airlines a few years ago and I think their network would make sense for a direct Ljubljana flight.
DeleteI flew Air Saint Pierre and think they could definitely work twice weekly during summer with the leased 737
DeleteDo they no get the hint?
ReplyDeleteHere we go again says Alenka Bratušek.
ReplyDeleteIf e.g. Ryanair says that the fees are way to high to fly from Ljubljana airport, then something stinks to the heavens...and I am.not a diehard fan of Ryanair.
ReplyDeleteBut we are hearing from fanboys LJU is one of the cheapest airports in whole region?
DeleteSource from 20:08: trust me bro
DeleteFor Ryanair the taxes will ALWAYS be to high! as Slovenia invested to much money to MBX to close it, they should give discounts and benefits for this airport and not the only central airport. You have Wizzair, Easyjet and Transavia. What LJU should try to get additional Middle East flight destination and company, change the carrier from HV to KLM for flights to Amsterdam, trying to get ARN and OSL for summer schedule and MAD/BCN/LIS. London connections to different airports as we had would be perfect. Even SAW would also be a great low cost connection.
