Niš Constantine the Great Airport has said it is in talks with several interested carriers over the introduction of new flights while discussions with airlines already serving the city will begin this month. “In mid-November we will have more frequent meetings with carriers already flying to Niš and I am hoping for a positive outcome. We are also talking to several other airlines that currently do not fly to Niš and we anticipate this will result in more passengers and destinations next year”, the CEO of Niš Airport, Dušan Knežević, said. Swiss recently announced it would launch a limited summer service between Zurich and Niš, marking its return to the city after over five years. During the January - October period, Niš Airport handled 314.643 passengers, representing a decrease of 19.5% on 2023.
Without subsidies it will be hard to see new routes in INI

DeleteVienna is not quite one hour away from Brno. There are several airport shuttle bus services, and they all take at least 90 minutes from downtown Brno to the VIE airport, and during peak traffic, more than two hours. Niš might just be far enough to make a direct flight worthwhile, but the low-cost competition from Vienna would easily syphon off any potential flyers from Brno itself (especially since these are folks who usually fly on lowest possible fare).
DeleteHopefully they will manage to bring someone to make base there. And hopefully tourist office will work on promotion of south Serbia to attract tourists from new destinations becuase they cannot rely solely on Serbian travellers
