NEWS FLASH

UR Airlines from Iraq will continue to use Rijeka as a technical stop on its service between Erbil and London Gatwick during the upcoming summer season. The flights make a stop in the coastal city on the outbound journey, while the inbound operates nonstop. UR Airlines has used Rijeka as a technical stop intermittently for some time. The carrier operates the route with its Airbus A320 aircraft. During the 2025 summer season, flights will run on Fridays, landing in Rijeka at 17:00 and departing for London Gatwick at 19:00.

Probably the most bizarre route in exyu, even if it doesn't actually serve Rijeka

2 hour turnaround is pretty long for refueling. Do the passengers need to disembark the plane during the stop?

Depends on where in the world, airport, airline and the fuel provider.

In most cases they do deplane.

Why Rijeka out of all places? Is the fuel cheaper there?

Rijeka has profiled itself as a refuelling stop. It was receiving 747s in the night years ago.

Because RJK is run by the most competent and the most professional management, so no wonder they achieve such remarkable results, primarily in parking and refueling 😂

Ur is a very old city in Iraq.
It is supposed to be the birthplace of Abraham.

The stopover in Rijeka is mainly for security check up for the passengers as is mandated by the UK government for incoming commercial flights from Iraq. Ur Airlines which operates these European flights for FlyErbil, previously used Plovdiv Airport in Bulgaria for such purpose.
