NEWS FLASH

Ryanair will transition to 100% paperless boarding passes from November 3. Initially planned to commence in May, the low cost carrier has now confirmed that customers will have until November to prepare for the change. Ryanair said that 80% of its customers already use digital boarding passes, but with around 200 million passengers per year, that still leaves around 40 million customers using printed boarding passes annually. The carrier noted, “Ryanair passengers will no longer download and print a physical paper boarding pass but will instead use the digital boarding pass generated in their myRyanair app during check-in”. The airline added, “We expect to eliminate almost all airport check-in fees from November 2025, as all passengers will have checked-in online/in-app to generate their digital boarding pass”. Those without smartphones have been advised to seek assistance from a friend or family member.

Because you refuse to use digital boarding pass? I am not defending Ryanair, but I hate if I have to print my boarding pass (regardless the carrier).

Yes, I prefer to have the boarding pass printed because it is much easier to handle and use. Of course I have the digital version, too, but for me it is the secondary/backup version.

This is a really strange and pointless policy. It’s not like they check all the stamps and calculate if you overstayed etc.

No, but they still need to check if your documents are in order and if you have an entry ban etc.

And that cant be checked when buying a ticket and entering your passport number, but must be checked prior to the flight? Pointless and lame.

That's why you need proper Airlines such as OU, JU, LH etc who care about their customers unlike Ryanair who try and scam every Euro that they can from people. Ryanair are the biggest con merchants in Aviation. The EU should take their operating licence from them!

I prefer airlines who implement smart measures like this one to keep the costs down and make flying affordable

The only problem is that their costs don't go down and they are expensive as hell, especially if you are not traveling with a single small plastic bag of luggage that you can squeeze under the seat in front of you. This Ryanair is often more expensive than airlines that "don't implement smart measures" when you add up all the hidden costs.
