Wizz Air moving to cashless onboard payments

Wizz Air has announced it is moving to cashless payments for all services onboard its aircraft from next Tuesday, April 1. Travellers flying Wizz Air will be able to pay for snacks, drinks and other amenities using Visa and Mastercard - both debit and credit. Another new feature is the option to pay with Revolut cards, which expands the available payment options for passengers. In addition, the carrier is introducing support for Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Android Pay and Google Pay, which will allow for fast and convenient payments from smartphones. “The decision to switch completely to cashless payments is aimed at improving service on board and increasing transaction security. Thanks to the new payment methods, travellers will not have to worry about having the right currency or storing cash during the flight”, the airline said. The change will affect all routes operated by Wizz Air.

      I use mainly Revolut. On my Ryanair flight, I tried paying with my card, it was declined. I tried with the same card via Apple Pay and it went through. On board Wizz, both apple pay and revolut card itself worked. But the Ryanair story was last year, so now you may be able to pay also with the card itself.

    They will reduce the commision like this in countries which dont usually use credit cards in 21st centery like Albania and others.

    It makes it easier for them, all the cash has to be accounted for, papers have to match for money and cards, it has to be given to a bank probably thru some service.

    This just makes it easier for the carrier.
