NEWS FLASH

Lufthansa’s leisure subsidiary Discover Airlines will upgrade its seasonal flights between Frankfurt and Dubrovnik to year-round operations. During the upcoming 2025/26 winter season, which begins in late October and runs until late March of next year, Discover Airlines plans to serve the coastal city three times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. “Dubrovnik is a popular destination in our summer schedule. Our forecast has shown that there is a high demand for year-round options, especially in winter, as people want to escape the cold winter months in Germany or want to visit their relatives during Christmas and New Year’s season. We also want to offer our guests from Frankfurt and Dubrovnik more flexible travel options”, Discover Airlines told the “Dubrovnik Times”. Dubrovnik becomes the only city in Croatia to be served by Discover Airlines on a year-round basis. Croatia Airlines also maintains year-round flights between the two cities with three weekly rotations planned for the upcoming winter.

This is a huge surprise. Croatia Airlines is now doomed on this route.

It's not. And it's not a surprise. DU is one of the greatest cities in the world that everybody wants to visit.

Why are you telling me to inform myself? You didn't even understand my comment. Do you think six flights per week is possible to Dubrovnik in the winter?

High demand for Dubrovnik especially in winter? Really?

What Load Factor has Croatia Airlines on DBV-FRA-DBV during winter?

OU LF in 2024 was 65.1%. Likely in the 50s during winter. When you said "Most probably very high", did you talk about yourself?

@anon 13:44 - yeah sure, everybody wants to visit Dubrovnik during winter, that's why its airport has around 20 thousand passengers per month in winter months, and carriers are constantly cancelling scheduled flights or discontinuing the whole routes during winter... Come and visit me in Dubrovnik during winter and you'll see how "popular" it really is.
@anon 22:14 - the list of carriers that have tried with winter flights to Dubrovnik is not so short (Iberia, Vueling, Turkish, LOT, Aegean, British...), basically all of them failed, and even Ryanair is struggling to get anything close to a decent LF during winter.

I'm surprised that none of the LH subsidiaries have so far shown interest in connecting Mostar to either Frankfurt or Munich. I know that Sky Alps flies OMO-MUC, but an LH subsidiary (e.g Discover or Air Dolomiti) would take the thing to a completely new level.

Same reason why they don't fly to Tuzla, Brač or Maribor.

Eurowings does fly to Mostar. They don't have a Munich base though, but some of the other LH subsidiaries have.

I think that all airlines, every airline, have more data about route demand than any "forista" here. They don't care about your personal "I don't need DBV in winter". They look at many factors. For DBV for example: US tourists and cruise ship tourism. This is only one of many aspects pro DBV.

Sure buddy, Iberia, Vueling, Turkish, LOT, Aegean, British, etc all had much more data than us before they launched winter flight to DBV, where are they all now?

What are you talking about? Iberia, Turkish, LOT and British have all already scheduled DBV winter flights. Inform yourself before posting such miserable comments persistently

Turkish is cancelling DBV winter flights left and right, nobody takes them seriously anymore, ask anybody from Dubrovnik. LOT has tried with winter flights in 2019/2020 and failed, now they are trying again but the result will be the same, mark my words. I don't know about Iberia's current plans for DBV winter flights (I think they only added flights in March and don't fly in all other winter months), but they too tried in 2018 and also failed.
