NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia, Croatia Airlines and Air Montenegro have been named among Eastern Europe's best carriers at the annual World Airline Awards, hosted by Skytrax at the Paris Air Show yesterday. For the ninth time, the two largest carriers from the former Yugoslavia have been featured among the best in the category, while Air Montenegro made its second appearance. Furthermore, Air Serbia has also been named among Europe’s top regional airlines, the world's best regional carriers and has ranked within the world’s 100 best carriers for the first time.

Air Serbia was voted Eastern Europe’s third best, up from fourth, behind only LOT Polish Airlines and airBaltic, while Croatia Airlines placed seventh, down from sixth, following Georgian Airways. Air Montenegro maintained its tenth position from last year. Air Serbia was also named the third best regional airline in Europe, behind Aegean Airlines and Air Dolomiti. Furthermore, it came eighteenth in the category of best regional carriers in the world, just behind Copa Airlines and Qantas Link, improving its rank from last year’s twentieth place.

For the first time, a flag carrier from the former Yugoslavia ranked within the world's top 100 airlines. Air Serbia positioned itself as 99th, just behind China Eastern Airlines but ahead of Hawaiian Airlines. The Serbian carrier improved its ranking from last year’s 115th position.

The World Airline Awards, described as "the Oscars of the aviation industry", are the most coveted quality accolades for the world airline industry and a global benchmark of airline excellence handed out based on passenger experience. The 2025 awards were based on a customer survey period from September 2024 to May 2025. Over thirteen million eligible customer surveys were completed, across a range of topics, resulting in the awards for airline of the year, together with regional and best airline awards. All entries are screened to identify each IP / user information, with duplicate or ineligible entries deleted. The awards are said to be 100% independent with no payment by any airline or other outside organisation for any aspect of the customer survey or awards presentation event. Over 100 different nationalities participated in the customer satisfaction survey. The surveys measure standards across 49 key performance indicators of airline front-line product and service.

Qatar Airways was named as the airline of the year. It scooped the accolade for the ninth time in the 25-year history of the awards. Singapore Airlines was runner up while Cathay Pacific came third. Taiwan’s Starlux Airlines was recognised as being the world’s most improved, while Europe’s best carrier was Turkish Airlines, ahead of Air France and Swiss. Star Alliance was named the world’s best group of airlines.

Shiny planes and horrible onboard product. Just look at what they are offering in business class. It's a disgrace

OU does not even have functioning customer support on any social media page. They do not respond to anything. Most evident during the Zagreb runway incident.

Based on what? The worst LF in Europe? The worst business class product in Europe? Market share of 13 percent and dropping? Non existent marketing? Uhljebs working on positions that don't exist in any other airline? Future single type fleet, the worst and most disastrous solution for the company and the country?
Corruption? Incompetence? Losses which are becoming bigger and bigger? Will trive based on which on of the above listed? Or all of them combined?

Skytrax is 100% accurate in recognizing the trend of Air Serbia slightly improving over the past year while Croatia Airlines is trending down. Like it or not 😀

I am 12.58. And you are wrong. In my opinion, Air Serbia deserves even better position in some segments and Croatia Airlines should be listed worse in all segments. You write presuming I am against JU and in favour of OU, which is, once again, very wrong. And it has nothing to do with Skytrash which has absolutely no way to determine real achievments of the Airlines, airports, or anything else it's ranking

Nothing stops you from starting your own airline review company. Regardless of how accurate and transparent your criteria is, someone will always object ratings.

Skytrax is the definition of bought and paid for "award".
And everyone in the aviation industry know it.

I really don't think Air Serbia bought 99th place. It may be bought for top ranking or award winners but I highly doubt for the rest.

That goes without saying. They are trying to swindle money from whoever airline they can and "award" them accordingly.

Ex Yu airlines were some of the BEST in Europe until the conflicts - network, quality of equipment and staff. That's when Western EU countries took advantage of sanctions/etc to gobble up its market share - with their airports suddenly expanding and roadblocks/regulations/visas thrown at the Ex Yu airlines to prevent growth. It has taken over 30 years for the Ex-Yu airlines to recover most of their former markets and I wish them success moving forward.
