NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia will increase operations between Belgrade and Thessaloniki this coming winter season, which begins on October 26 and runs until March 28. The airline plans to run ten weekly flights between the two cities, up from six to seven weekly services during the 2024/25 season. The number of winter flights also surpasses its existing summer frequencies of eight to nine weekly services. Over the winter, the carrier will operate two daily rotations on the route on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Air Serbia will utilise a mix of ATR72, Embraer E190 and E195 aircraft between the two cities over the winter. Changes remain possible.
Hmm odd one; maybe an agency is booking most of the seats?
ReplyDeleteI believe that they have announce these SKG increases in the past as well, but then they never materialize.
DeleteMost of passengers on this route are transfers and business traffic.
DeleteThere's a quite a bit of VFR traffic during winter as well, as well as tourists (if the price is right). It's a healthy mix.
DeleteThey must be thinking about Heraklion in winter too, not with this frequency obviously but Crete is quite nice winter destination. And there would be some transfers, at least from the region, Knosos is popular site and other venues too, which are not so pleasant visiting in summer.
ReplyDeleteHER is only like charter no transfers no business traffic. But year-round srevice is possible.
DeleteTransavia Lufthansa Discover Ryanair all fly year round to HER
DeleteYes but with tourists.
DeleteThere are ski resorts on Crete.
DeleteWow, interseting i don't know this 👌
DeleteHow long does a car drive take from Belgrade to Solun?
ReplyDeleteMore than 6 hours, it is a bit farther than Wienna
DeleteSome 6-7 hours, like Vienna i.e.
DeleteHaha, we had the same Vienna reference :)
DeleteBut in high season you can expect hours of delays on NMK - Greece border.
DeleteIt is faster to drive through Bulgaria now, as I did last week.
DeleteWhen I travel to Kavala and Halkidiki, half the cars are from Bucharest. These Romanians go to Greece en masse to the beach😆
DeleteIn the past, Romania had a very strong seaside tourism. In the past, Condor and AirBerlin flights operated to Constanta!
DeleteWhen they will announce new routes for winter season? I still waiting Canaries 😊
ReplyDeleteThey have already introduced 6 new routes this year and Bari, Tbilisi and Geneva are all new this winter.
DeleteThat's right and good but every new route is welcome
DeleteWould be nice if they announce at least one new route for winter
DeleteAUH should be launched as soon as capacity is available.
DeleteOr DXB
DeleteLuxembourg should be also considered since Luxair left the market.
DeleteWell, that is an interesting idea, but maybe E jets are not small enough.
DeleteWell, they announced next expansion in Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia. I hope Poland and Moldova also. So we can expect some of Kosice, Debrecen, Iasi/Chisnau, Kluj, Burgas, Plovdiv, Constanta, Craiova, maybe even Bratislava, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Rzezov, Brno
DeleteBravo Air Serbia! 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteI took the time to list all the destinations where the passengers are mainly tourists, or at least half, since some of them also involve transfers. What do you think? More or less, I believe this is the situation. Feel free to add anything.
ReplyDeletePurely tourist destinations:
Barcelona, Lisbon, Malaga, Porto, Alghero, Chania, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Heraklion, Izmir, Mykonos, Mallorca, Pula, Split, Rhodes, Rijeka, Zadar.
Destinations that also involve transfers and possibly diaspora:
Bari, Naples, Catania, Florence, Malta, Thessaloniki, Palermo.
How is Malta doing? Is there enough diaspora for two airlines? Imo SKG have and tourists.
DeleteSerbian diaspora in Malta is downsizing lately in favor of Nepal, India and Philipino gastos. IDK numbers but I have seen in personal last couple of years. On the other hand it looks like to me leisure traffic BEG/INI-MLA is growing. Malta is great in October even November. Serbs took a long time to realize there are seas in other countries as well, not only in Greece.
DeleteI don't think many visit Malta for its wonderful beaches.
DeleteMalta is a very popular tourist destination because Valetta is stunning. And especially from September onwards hotels are dirt cheap compared to other countries in Europe.
DeleteHow large is the Serbian diaspora in Malta (diaspora+workers)?
DeleteOver 10 000
Delete@ anon 12:14
DeleteI do and I like it. Wonderful sandy beaches at north, modest temperatures in October even in November and not so crowdy. And not overpriced.
As I said before, there are other seas in the world not only Greece and Turkey and people in Serbia are excited to explore them. Booking and other platforms helps to avoid pricy tourist agencies. That's why JU upgraded many leisure destinations to a scheduled flights.
In the past year, I’ve flown with JU to Lisbon, Malaga, and Porto, and on all these routes there was a noticeable number of connecting passengers. It was particularly amusing to see how many travelers were clearly connecting from Turkey - easily recognizable by their freshly transplanted hairlines.
DeleteAnon 13:41 you just made my day ! I don't know why but I'm still laughing with your last sentence !
DeletePromising winter
ReplyDeleteI really hope that the E195 will help to replace the ATR on some of those routes like SKG, makes for a more attractive offer
ReplyDeleteE95 comes very handy during the midday wave, but ATR is irreplaceable during the night and on less busier days.
DeleteIn such distances the ATR economics are unbeatable.
