NEWS FLASH

Macedonia’s Minister for Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, has announced that the long-planned overhaul of Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport is set to begin this October, following UNESCO’s approval for the project. The airport is located within a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The project is expected to include the construction of a new 250-square-metre administrative building, a complete renovation of the terminal and an upgrade of the parking area. The overhaul has been pledged by successive governments and forms part of the obligations undertaken by concessionaire TAV Macedonia.

In 2022, TAV Macedonia told EX-YU Aviation News, “There is a plan to develop and expand Ohrid Airport’s infrastructure, with construction work to be carried out in phases, depending on various factors, primarily the growth in air traffic”.

The airport’s terminal building last underwent a full renovation and expansion in 1995. Additional infrastructure upgrades were implemented in April 2011 under TAV Airports’ management.

The problem in the past was because the property of airport was not legalized and nobody even didnt care about that which is funny. Now thats done. And another problem was Unesco they didnt approve construction after some requirements from them are not fullyy accomplished.

Ohrid deserves this , the current terminal building and around it is very old and tiny small place. After the renovation it will be completely different , modern and new. It will cost 2.7 mil euro which is not a small job.
