Maribor Airport welcomes first charter in over a year

Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport handled its first passenger charter flight in over a year following a damaging hailstorm which severely impacted the airport’s terminal last summer, leading to its temporary closure. An Avantiair Dash 8 aircraft arrived from Ostrava last week, carrying the Banik football team. Limited operations, including pilot training, have been operating at Maribor Airport. However, it recently adjusted passenger flow at the terminal to enable the resumption of passenger charters.

During last year’s storm, the terminal roof was severely damaged. Last month, the Slovenian Ministry of Infrastructure selected Karbo storitve as the contractor for repairing the roof. The project is valued at 905.000 euros. While the repair is slated for this autumn, a comprehensive overhaul remains uncertain because the tender process for selecting a project designer was cancelled in June. The current airport operator, state-owned DRI, holds the management contract until the end of 2026, after which the Ministry intends to hold a public tender for long-term operation.

    Absulutely! BEG would be profitable, as well as SKP and maybe PRN. I also agree that it is just run bei incompetent people, or someone else is blocking.
