NEWS FLASH
Air France has begun rolling out a new onboard product on its Embraer E190 aircraft, which have operated over 80% of the carrier’s flights on the Zagreb and Ljubljana routes so far this year. The new cabins feature new, lighter seats, a free high-speed Wi-Fi connection and a bright cabin.
The E190s now have 110 seats, up from 100, in a 2-2 configuration. Each seat is upholstered in leather and has ergonomic foam for greater comfort and durability. Reclining by up to three inches, the seat is 46 centimetres wide and features a tray table, optimised storage space, fold-up armrests and a coat hook. The headrest is height and side adjustable. At eye level, passengers have a retractable stand for their portable device with a ribbed surface to position their smartphone or tablet. USB A and C ports are available for recharging their devices, including laptops. A double cup holder has also been integrated. During their flight, all customers will have access to ultra high-speed Wi-Fi. This new and exclusive service on this aircraft is free of charge by connecting to the traveller's Flying Blue account.
Business class passengers will now be separated from the economy cabin by a movable curtain, and starting this October, all business class travellers on the E190 will have the seat next to them left unoccupied.
The new product debuted on September 1 on a flight between Paris and Hamburg with the entire E190 fleet to be fitted with the new cabins by the summer of 2026.

Love it when an airline crams a couple of extra rows in a plane and calls it an improvement.
ReplyDeleteLeaving empty seat in business is an improvement on their behalf though.
DeleteAs a busibess pax on AF I am happy with this improvement :)
DeleteHeh, the only time I ever travel to Paris is for business, in business class, so I'm happy with this as well.
DeleteAlso, it's not like economy is crammed either. Plus free fast internet, USB and charging ports, and new seats for everybody, are a nice improvement.
Long story short, economy class has been crammed so that business class pax can have an empty seat next to them.
ReplyDeleteAF managed to lift the scope clause limiting Hop! planes to 100 pax.
ReplyDeleteSo they can squeeze 110 seats....
The Air Bulgaria E190 operating for JU have 108 seats....
Air Bulgaria flying for JU has very comfortable seats with nice legroom. Also Air Dolomiti has 108 seats, Helvetic even 112 and both have good legroom and are still very comfortable for regional flights.
DeleteI don't need Wi-Fi on short flights, but I still need to bring my legs in the aircraft. As much as I can see this new generations are even bigger than us, I really don't know how this is in tune with human development...
ReplyDeleteWhat you call human development is pure Greediness where Money is the one and only God. In order to be even more "humanly developed" we also have PR, the apostle to the God, which is successfully explaining that Bad is actually Good for us
DeleteBy human development I meant on our size getting bigger :)
