Iceland’s PLAY ceases operations

Icelandic low cost carrier PLAY has ceased all operations as of today, September 29, resulting in the termination of its seasonal flights between Reykjavik and Split, which were due to run until October 16. It was the first, and so far the only, carrier to maintain scheduled services between Iceland and the region. So far this summer it operated a total of 100 Split operations, with  17.640 seats on the market. Today's Split service will not operate. Earlier this year, PLAY had unveiled plans to establish a virtual airline in Kosovo in cooperation with local tour operators, but those ambitions now appear unlikely to materialise.

      Don't worry, they will continue as normal with the TF-registered aircraft joining them soon. This way they can relocate all aircraft to Maltese AOC quickly and bid adieu to the creditors of the Icelandic branch. Simples.
