Belgrade has emerged as one of the five most popular destinations within the Flydubai - Emirates partnership. Marking the eighth year of cooperation between the two carriers, Flydubai highlighted Belgrade, alongside Kathmandu, Baku, Krabi and Zanzibar, as the top-performing routes sold through the joint codeshare and operated by Flydubai. In the first half of the year, the airline handled 93.803 passengers on its Belgrade service, up 7.3% compared to the same period in 2024, with frequencies remaining steady at two daily flights. The carrier boosted operations to seventeen weekly this September for the winter season and has now extended the additional frequencies throughout the upcoming 2026 summer schedule.

Yes, with 3 daily, I think Dubai is fully covered.

Hopefully JU will understand importance of this market and finally take an action. After W6 pulled out from AUH, it's a no brainer for JU. It can use literally any of available jet aircrafts on the route, but it's obvious that A330 is idling on the tarmac and waiting to jump in few times per week. They are brainlessly competing at GVA and NCE with low costs for peanuts and this high yield market they are leaving to others

You can win big in UAE, but you can also lose big. I think it is a gamble for them, especially because Gulf carriers are so strong and pretty much have unlimited budgets and they can lose money. I would personally stay away from the region as it is already well connected, and I think JU would ultimately have to withdraw from the market due to limited connections in the middle east

I think the JU ship in the UAE has sailed the moment FZ boosted BEG to 17. They are just too strong and I don't see JU being ready to invest themselves in this fight.

If I were JU then I would have done my best to court Qatar Airways. Air Serbia could launch Doha if QR is willing to cooperate with them and to offer decent fares for connections.

Let's also not forget Royal Jordanian. Even though they are not a Persian Gulf carrier, they have a decent MENA network and will offer connections from BEG. We already read on here how they plan on boosting BEG to 4 weekly which should be enough for them to be competitive.

Of course they do. With withdrawal of W6, QR reducing and JU playing dead, it’s quite logical to step in and even expect growth soon.
JU’s ship didn’t sail away,, since W6 retreated, but soon will be if RJ fill the gap

What's with the "QR reducing" nonsense? They have two flights less for a grand total of 3 weeks due to a fleet shortage. That means a total of six flights less this winter. Get a grip.

What's with the tone? Let's not forget that some time ago QR had night flights out of BEG which considerably improved overall connectivity in Doha. These were not brought back and QR has, here and there, reduced flights despite phenomenal loads. Overall, they were 'stuck' at daily flights for how many years now?

Meanwhile, FZ has boosted DXB, China Southern has launched BEG (connections to Asia) and now Royal Jordanian is about to enter the chat.
I think Belgrade is simply not a priority for Qatar Airways and they are not showing much interest in further expanding their presence here. I think their last big commitment to BEG was when they de-linked BEG and SOF and when they boosted flights from 5 to 7 weekly. Since them they have mostly stagnated.

      Where JU could focus -
      Abu Dhabi (codeshare with Etihad)
      Riyadh (codeshare with Riyadh air)
      Oman (codeshare with Oman air)
      And thats it

Didn't flydubai also announce Vienna or am I confusing them with another destination.

FZ and EK combining flights is a good way for EK to grow without the need to dump a lot of capacity with their widebodies. Maybe, some day, EK and FZ could run each a daily flight to BEG. However I don't see it happening before FZ goes triple daily.

Lets not forget that they are getting the 787, so that is the most probable option.

Flydubai + Emirates is a solid option, but not flawless. When you are flying two different companies, no matter how strong their connection, things can go south for the passenger. I would prefer Qatar Airways coming back with more flights on the BEG - DOH route.

Not gonna happen. They have huge problems with planes and BEG is not priority for them
