NEWS FLASH

Basel Airport will see a reduction in traffic next spring due to the refurbishment of its main runway 15/33. For safety reasons, the runway will be completely closed between April 15 and May 20, 2026. During this period, operations will be limited to the secondary runway 07/25, allowing a reduced number of flights to continue.

During this period, Basel is to be connected to the former Yugoslav region with services from Belgrade, Banja Luka, Ohrid, Niš, Pristina, Skopje, Split, Tuzla and Zagreb, operated by Wizz Air, Ryanair, easyJet, Chair Airlines and GP Aviation. However, flight frequencies have been reduced as a result of the runway works.

In some cases, Wizz Air is reallocating capacity to other routes during the closure period. From Belgrade, it will boost services to Memmingen for the four weeks, while from Skopje, the carrier will increase Ljubljana operations.

Nice to see Wizz redirect that capacity, even if it is for a month.

Vueling's summer schedule for LJU is kinda shitty tho, not even twice per week during some months.

Not only Ljubljana, they will also increase Berlin, Bratislava and Friedrichshafen from SKP.

Then this is just a general increase and not related to Basel?

No, they are because of Basel. General increase is MXP 3 to 4 weekly compared to this winter, same like last summer, FCO 4 weeky, GOT 3 to 4 weekly, MMX 4 to 5 weekly, BCN 2 to 3 weekly, NUE 2 to 3 weekly when compared to this winter, BER 4 to 5, BVA 2 to 3 weekly, BTS 4 to 5 down one.
Friedrichshafen, Ljubljana, Bratislava and Berlin are all increased during that period. BER is from 5 to 7, LJU from 5 to 7 and then 4, FDH is from 3 to 4 and BTS from 4 to 5.

Yeah right they substituted a couple of flights to Basel with a network wide increase. I really don't understand why you are comparing summer with winter

There is an odd increase of SKP-LJU flights in October next year. Any idea why?

It could be mistake or this route pops out as one of the best performing during winter with marginal level to introduce more flights (which should be the case given that they increase LJU, and not some other destination, during this Basel thing)

Wow, secondary runway is twice as short, 1820 m vs. 3900 m. And Pristina is top-1 destination, and it's not even close.
