NEWS FLASH
Ljubljana Airport handled 1.591.443 passengers in 2025, reaching 92.5% of its 2019 pre-pandemic figures. Last year’s result marks an increase of 10.6% on 2024 or an additional 152.730 travellers. The number of aircraft movements stood at 24.665, down 3.1%. During 2025, Lufthansa was the largest carrier by available seats, just ahead of Turkish Airlines, while the Airbus A320 was the most common aircraft type at Ljubljana Airport. During the year, Slovenia’s capital was most connected with Frankfurt, followed by Belgrade, Istanbul and Zurich. The head of airport operator Fraport Slovenija, Babett Stapel, said, “An exceptionally successful 2025, in which we served almost 1.6 million passengers, is the result of long-term and systematic efforts to expand our destination network and continuously improve the customer experience. The many increases already announced for 2026 confirm that Ljubljana Airport is becoming an increasingly competitive, attractive and reliable starting point for air travel, successfully connecting Slovenia with the world and opening the door to new opportunities”. As previously reported, Ljubljana Airport is on track for strong growth in 2026.

Does W6 reach those 73k or come close to it on the route to SKP ? Does someone know
ReplyDeleteIt's LF so far for the year is 94 %, so we can expect around 68k passengers in the end.
DeleteLF is calculated for the flights until the end of November.
DeleteSo this means basically big chances are those 73k are already reached by the end of December.
DeleteThats really amazing numbers for this route, and it also will grow this year too... btw the LF overall is huge, I think one of the strongest om W6 network across Ex-yu airports
73k won't be reached cause that is the total capacity for the whole year and the LF will never be 100 %, but yes, it will get pretty close :). THe route is pretty amazing, I cannot wait for the passenger numbers in April and May, when the route will be operated daily.
DeleteNo wonder OU keeps reducing their ZAG-SKP. Everyone is flying from LJU.
DeleteNex year the passenger numbers for SKP could very well exceed 100k. That is a tremendous achievement for the countries with populations of around 2 mio people.
DeleteIs the summer schedule final? I can't belive we'll have daily flights in April and not in August
DeleteI would say it isn't, their LF in August was 99%! It doesn't make sense to not increase it then. They also have a weird increase to 5 per week in October, so I have a feeling that they are yet to put in the extra frequencies for the summer.
DeleteWild guess, but maybe they are planning to base an airplane in LJU and are gonna use it for extra frequencies to SKP. 👀
And they already increased next winter to 5 per week, so the current summer schedule really doesn't make sense.
Delete"Wild guess, but maybe they are planning to base an airplane in LJU and are gonna use it for extra frequencies to SKP. 👀"
DeleteThis would be ideal, but I think it's too late for that now? Is it not
Does Wizz do summer only bases anywhere?
DeleteWell they just announced new BEG routes a few days ago, so maybe not.
DeleteThe flights are daily in April cause they will not operate on SKP-BSL route. This year there will be much more pax cause now A321neo operates the route not A320, thats 60 seats more on each flight.
DeleteI really like it when LJU experiences strong growth.
ReplyDelete1.8 million next year please.
Next year we are for sure getting 1,8 million passengers with all the recent growth and new routes. Hopefully there is gonna be a few more new ones for this year. Still waiting for easyJet to announce the last one.
ReplyDeleteI think Geneva would be a perfect fit for a new route. It is not served from Trieste/Zagreb and easyJet has a base there.
ReplyDeleteEspecially with pharma in slovenia booming
DeleteYeah, I was baffled when I saw that Slovenia is in the top 20 countries WORLDWIDE regarding pharma exports.
DeleteLek which is part of Swiss Novartis is building a HUGE product plant at Brnik airport, so if not by then, we will def get Basel/Geneva flights once that's open.
DeleteSorry Lek is owned by Sandoz in Basel
DeleteI think that the only thing preventing easyJet from launching Basel is the abundance of Ryanair flights to there from ZAG.
DeleteThey should try 2x weekly Geneva flights. I for one would use it, and many of my collegues too, and with Swiss going triple daily, Switzerland demand is there
DeleteAnd also the tourist numbers from Switzerland are increasing substantially every year. This year, there was close to 100k arrivals.
DeleteSuch an exceptional growth that Trieste is 60k ahead. Bebet go back to Germany and take Krasnja with you.
ReplyDeleteI hope we can reclaim the first place in 2026 with all the growth. Does anyone know are services to Trieste also being increased a lot this year?
DeleteThe obsession with Trieste is simply unhealthy.
DeleteUnhealthy would be to compare LJU to VIE, but being worried when LJU is legging behind TRS is more than normal.
DeleteThe obsession with Skopje is also a bit unhealthy.
DeleteIt’s really sad that a provincial airport like TRS, with Verona, Treviso, and Marco Polo all near-by in neighbouring Veneto, is ahead of LJU, the only airport of a country. And yes, TRS is extremely important for comparison, especially since it was always well behind LJU. It just goes to show how quickly you can grow, if you want to/know how to. The railway terminal next to it is a different game all together. To the guy who says it’s “unhealthy” to compare with TRS, what should we compare LJU with then? Lesce Bled airport???
DeleteI agree with 12:58z however 'Size' and passenger number comparsions often lead to sillyness. The real measure is impact on the economy and wider social mobility factors. In that case comparisons with Trieste are valid, but should be dealt within the larger picture.
Delete11:30 Nezdravi so edino taki komentarji in taki komentatorji. Zaradi vas je Slovenija tam, kjer je: zaostala, nerazvita, zmedena in izgubljena. Natanko zaradi vas.
DeleteAny idea if Berlin route is happening? I'm waiting for Easyjet, for a June trip I need on going...and I'm getting worried that it won't happen, while the prices with LH keep raising
ReplyDeleteThey for sure are making us wait, but I would say it's gonna happen.
DeleteI certanly hope so. I decided that if not by the start of Feburary, I sadly have to book one stop via FRA
DeleteI'm glad you are still gonna be flying from LJU :). If they want to start it in April, they should really schedule it ASAP.
DeleteBravo Fraport!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know what is the capacity increase for January?
ReplyDelete+12.1%
DeleteThank you, what about compared to 2019?
Delete-33.1%
DeleteShocker
DeleteThank you Babbet and thank you Krasnja. Amazing work you have done. So many words, so much talking about the growth and all the success and then you see the numbers and you are just SHOCKED. These 2 people should be banned from working in Slovenian aviation industry. For ever.
DeleteWhat Ljubljana need is:
ReplyDelete-SAS CRJ900 flights to ARN
-BER flights
-OTP flights
-summer destinations by a llc
I agree with you, the only thing I would change is SAS to CPH and Norwegian to ARN.
DeleteThat is honestly so true and such a dream scenario :)
DeleteVery good suggestions. I would add LCA, KRK and year round TLV.
DeleteFor OTP they could try to attract one of the airlines currently battling out there like Tarom, Animawings, FlyOne, HiSky who are local or FR and W6.
Forget about FR as long as Fraport charges 40€ per dep pax. Thieves.
DeleteThat consistent increase at the end of the year is truly great!
ReplyDeleteFraport put out summer schedule announcement, but didn't put it out on their website...such a shame
ReplyDeleteHow can I access that? Do I need to sign up to their newsletter or something.
DeleteThere is literally nothing that has not been already reported here.
DeleteIf you ask about the schedule: https://www.lju-airport.si/sl/leti/vozni-redi/
DeleteIf you are asking about press releases: https://www.fraport-slovenija.si/content/fraport-company-slovenija/sl/medijsko-sredisce.html
Thanks @12:46!
Delete@admin, is the most common type of aircraft A320 or A320 family?
ReplyDelete@12:36 you can do a quick check yourself, however it is very very likely
DeleteHaving said that...a quick looks seems like the a320 group is not domiant at LJ.
DeleteE190 is there too. KLM, Helvetic, AF, LOT, Finnair, JU
DeleteThe A320 (not A320-family) was utilised the most, on 2.006 scheduled flights.
DeleteInteresting, thank you for the answer. May I ask if you have any info in the A321 (inclouding the neo variant)?
DeleteIs vueling summer schedule final Admin?
ReplyDeleteNevermind in this very minute they added 2nd weekly October flights, so let's wait, maybe they'll add more flights
DeleteHaha thank god those strange one weekly frequencies are gone.
DeleteThey still remain in April for now
DeleteI see, at least now I have more hope of them removing those as well.
DeleteNo idea how we don't have LTN flights, EasyJet is selling August flights to London for 200€
ReplyDeleteA shame that AirBaltic won't be flying to LPA over the summer
ReplyDeleteThey surely have to go Friday and Sunday flights for next winter, right?
DeleteTRS is the only relevant comparison. Next to GRZ I suppose. Both far ahead. Not too many years ago LUX and EIN had similar passenger numbers to LJU, too. Now they are both ahead. Sad how LJU missed out.
ReplyDeleteHow is GRZ far ahead? Sure they have more summer destinations but their passengers number was 812k in 2024, meanwhile Ljubljana had way more.
