NEWS FLASH
Skopje Airport handled a record 3.211.419 passengers in 2025. The figure represents an increase of 8.7% on the previous year, or an additional 256.851 travellers. The airport served an average of 8.786 passengers per day. “The success we achieved in 2025 is not accidental. It is the result of a clear strategic direction, focused on investments and strong partnerships”, the head of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said. During 2025, Wizz Air was the largest carrier by available seats, while the Airbus A320 was the most common aircraft type at Skopje Airport. During the year, Macedonia’s capital was most connected with Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport, followed by Istanbul’s main airport, Vienna and Belgrade. As recently reported, Skopje Airport is on course for a strong year in 2026.

Wow!
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo go Skopje love that overall most Balkan Airports are growing. Would love to see Ohrid have greater success aswell.
ReplyDeleteIt's the first time I say photo of SKP with 5 planes, not one of them Wizz! Is this a real photo or AI?
ReplyDeleteWizz operates in waves so it's not that uncommon.
DeleteIn summer there are up to 16 planes parked at night at some
Deletepoint. Not uncommon.
Nice to see North Macedonia with a healthy increase in aviation and connectivity. I've always found it nice to fly in and out of Skopje Airport.
ReplyDeleteHealthy? Wizz is keeping over 60% of traffic.....connectivity wise major hubs escapade.
DeleteI hope to see a flight from Skopje to Palermo ASAP
ReplyDeleteI am sure SKP management will act on it because you want to see it ASAP
DeleteI am now contacting Sani Şener directly to schedule the flight for next summer season ;)
Deleteafter BEG announcement chances have increased!!
DeleteIt's very difficult, also because there are very few Macedonians in Sicily, less than 200, compared to other Italian regions. But never say never; a twice-weekly flight might be possible only during the summer. For me personally, it would be excellent because my wife is from Skopje.
Delete@rosanerofan You will have a flight from NAP to Skopje if that makes sense to you
DeleteI know from next April, at the moment the best connection for me is via Bari to go to Skopje on friday and via Bratislava to back home both flights with Wizzair always hoping that there are no delays so as not to miss connections. In summer there is also the possibility of flying with Air Serbia via Belgrade with good prices but lately I have only had misadventures with this airline
DeleteHopefully JU gives SKP greater attention. Embraers could be utilized especially for transfer flights to North America
ReplyDeleteIf we remove Wizz Air from SKP, what are we left with?
ReplyDelete1.2 million passengers.
DeleteThen do the same exercise by removing Wizzair and Ryanair from other airports as well.
DeleteCongrats SKP! These are amazing numbers and it shows the potential this airport has. Not only passenger numbers are high but also the variety of destinations is quite satisfying having in mind the relative small size of the market.
ReplyDelete2026 will be also another year to remember.
Btw. very unique photo w/o any Wizz plane :-)
Congrats to SKP 💐🍾
ReplyDeleteGenova Airport in Italy had 2025 just lit bit over 1.6 Mio.passengers. Liguria is a touristic hotspot in Italy, GOA an important European port and a business destination. Under this aspect, the numbers of SKP are even more worth. So well done SKP!
Why the comparison with Genova may i ask?
Delete"During the year, Macedonia’s capital was most connected with Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport, followed by Istanbul’s main airport, Vienna and Belgrade"
ReplyDeleteAdmin, not sure where you got this info from but the correct version is:
Both Istanbul Airports with 16.6%, followed by Basel 6.2%, Frankfurt 5.7%, Zurich, 4.5% and Memmingen 4.2%
As far as most flights to countries: Germany 25.4%, Turkey 23.6%, Switzerland 10.8%, Italy 5.5% and Sweden 4.3%.

I am well aware what the airport sent in the press release. The airport notes market share in terms of capacity for each individual destination, not the number of flights, which it refers to in the country statistics.
DeleteBravo SKP 👏
ReplyDeleteGreat to see 5 different airlines at once at SKP , I really like the photo!! Btw W6 2026 is planned to reach 3 million in Macedonia which means SKP will surely reach 4 million which is amazing
ReplyDeleteWhat is Skopje Airport terminal Capacity Limit?
ReplyDeleteAlso why havent they still not increased the landing systems what ever its called the one for making it easier to land in fog and stuff?
4.5 million , this year if all is going by plan they will reach and probably overpass 4 million... I also see paper saying they have plan by 2031 to expand the terminal capacity
DeletePegasus is killing it in Skopje. If you add Turkish and Ajet to those numbers, the traffic between Macedonia and Turkey is nothing short of spectacular. Just amazing!
ReplyDelete... and SunExpress!
DeleteTurkey market from Macedonia was always strong , close relations with both nations as well good options for trasfering brings all this numbers which are close to 1 million travellers
DeleteBeside the launch of the two new routes by Wizz, are they increasing frequencies to some of the existing routes?
ReplyDeleteyes to LJUBLJANA
DeleteLjubljana and couple more routes are getting increasing starting from March and mid April
DeleteTAV giving good rates to the Turks and nobody else. Nothing new.
ReplyDeletelmao you do realise that there are only a few countries in Europe that turkish citizens dont need a visa for??? beside that they love it here
Deletedidnt see you post this for other airports where turkish companies are strong too
Yeah you didn't address the comment at all.
DeleteTraditionally turkish companies are strong not only in Skopje, Sarajevo, Pristina as well
DeleteEdelweiss/Swiss is the underachiever knowing how big the CH diaspora is, they just seem to maintain a minimal presence
ReplyDeleteIn the table there is no Edelweiss numbers ? Only Chair , however 100k for CH market is solid number, the Macedonians living in CH is rougly 30 to 50k people, for example Germany by last information is getting close to 300k
DeleteAs well alot of Albanians are using buses and cars to come back to Macedonia , little portion of them is using air travel...
DeleteWizzair to Basel is the king but Edelweiss/Swiss have a better network than Austrian or LOT so its pretty weird they have no intentions to tap into the transfer market and go daily
DeleteBecause the p2p market is more huge than the transfer people...
Delete@15.24 Edelweiss taps neither in the p2p or transfer market. Austrian flies double daily transfers, Wizz air up to 13 weekly p2p...
DeleteWith Edelweiss you can also make transfer with Swiss flights , with Chair you are not able to do it..
DeleteSo sorry that Transavia stopped the direct flight Skopje to Amsterdam. I hope the flight will get back.
ReplyDeleteWe dont actually need them, there is no option to connect to KLM flights... I will be happy if we get KLm cityhopper at least from May to Octomber...
Deletehow can you say you dont need a route? and please write "I" instead of "we"
DeleteWe dont need a route that doesnt allow any connections to its mother company ... Macedonian demand for p2p people is very small for that market. What we need is transfer option from AMS
