NEWS FLASH
SAS Scandinavian Airlines will temporarily reduce operations on its seasonal service between Copenhagen and Sarajevo at the start of the 2026 summer season. The carrier will resume flights as planned on April 1 but will suspend the route for just over two weeks shortly afterwards. All services between April 12 and April 29 have been cancelled. Flights are then expected to resume as previously scheduled, operating twice per week.

Wtf, why?
ReplyDeleteBecause demand is weak outside of the gasto period of the Easter holidays
DeleteBut this is literally for Easter holidays.
DeleteEaster holidays occuring earlier than last year, as well as competition from Wizz Air's Malmo-Tuzla route which has been re-established.
DeleteThey compete directly against Norwegian on this route.
DeleteSAS demand is quite high and they're price dumping on the route with Norwegian, LFs continously in the high 80s, what are you on about?
DeleteDoesn't make sense as the LF is in the high 80s on this route and it's routinely packed. Likely a SAS airplane problem
Delete13:53 Why don't you check when Easter is in Scandinavia and then come back again with a correction comment
DeleteYes, everyone wants to be in Sarajevo for Gregorian Easter, the city is all about miracle of resurrection... What's happening here with the comments?
DeleteWhat is happening is that you are not using your head. This route heavily relies on diaspora and in Denmark, the diaspora follows public holidays that are celebrated in Denmark. So they can use the free days to travel and visit their homeland.
DeleteYes, but it includes a week after Dannish Easter but doesn't include start of Dannish school holidays just before Easter, please check the dates and arguments.
DeleteMaybe it's connected to capacity rather than demand? Lost a small amount due to unexpected issues in that time frame and they decided to cut that route
DeleteThe demand side must have been great
DeleteThere is no demand. And the market is weak
DeleteThe demand is there, lots of Bosnians visit Copenhagen for tourism, two companies might be too much
DeleteIs this maybe somehow connected to the Middle East crisis? It is a very random decision and I bet affected travelers wont be happy.
ReplyDeleteSAS has aircraft grounded due to neo engine issue. It could be that they increased frequencies on other routes during this period and need the aircraft. They can probably make more money on other routes so they got higher priority.
DeleteSAS has made a big mistake leaving Star Alliance. That's the real problem!
DeleteCompletely strange considering Easter holidays. Also, I know it's off-topic but I'd like to see them in Skopje since CPH is no longer served by W6.
ReplyDeleteSchool Easter holidays in Denmark end on April 6. I'm pretty sure that they are even shorter in Sweden, with schools only being closed on the actual Easter holidays. In Denmark, it's a vacation from March 28 to April 6.
Delete"Completely strange considering Easter holidays." Have you looked at a calendar before writing this?
DeleteThey already serve PRN. No room for SKP
DeleteBetter swich those flights to LJU.
ReplyDeleteI still don’t understand why they are not flying to Lju from either Copenhagen, Oslo or Stockholm with at least CRJs
DeleteNeither do I.
