Skopje Airport has handled the most passenger on record during the first quarter with each month registering growth of over 30%. In March alone, the airport welcomed a total of 285.491 passengers through its doors, representing an increase of 36.7% compared to last year across 1.944 flights (arrivals and departures), an increase of 6.9%. During the January - March period, Skopje handled 796.513 travellers, an increase of 33.7% or an extra 200.967 customers.

Macedonia’s two international airports are expected to handle a joint total of over 3.5 million passengers this year, while the figure is estimated to overtake four million in 2027. The country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, said, “We developed a strategy that has not been easy to implement, holding talks with numerous airlines and urging them to include Macedonia as a destination. We should not forget that Macedonia has no access to the sea, yet we have added 28 new routes over the past years. This year, Skopje Airport is recording the strongest growth in the former Yugoslavia, with traffic up 30% in the first three months, while Ohrid is growing by 20%. With the completion of the upgrade and reconstruction of Ohrid Airport, we expect even stronger growth ahead”.

Impressive!

DeleteСамо напред Скопје!
ReplyDeleteI Ohrid godinava ke ima jaki rezultati
Deletethey had combined 3.5m last year, what is that deputy figure smoking?
ReplyDeleteTrue😂
DeleteIs that a retro livery of Austrian or a very old pic?
ReplyDeleteDon't you notice there is Wizz, SKP new terminal and a wifi antenna on the Austrian plane? It's retro livery
Delete13:49 it is retro Austrian livery ln their A320
DeleteDuring the first quarter, SKP airport added 200.967 while ZAG added 60.510 passengers. Getting closer.
ReplyDeleteAnd?
DeleteAnd booom
DeleteBoom what? Why the obsession with comparisons that Skopje fanboys seem to have.
DeleteThe guy just posted the difference between both airports and its good to know , whats wrong with that?
DeleteThere is an obsessive patriotism that often surrounds comments abour Skopje which is not seen elsewhere.
DeleteBecause Macedonia is the best!
Delete🇲🇰🇲🇰🇲🇰
Delete@21:19 statistics on many levels would say otherwise..but sure man. Youre the best lol
DeleteFirst it is PRN which SKP needs to catch up
DeleteBy the time PRN will be catched up for sure
DeletePray that nothing happens to Wizz !
DeleteQuo Vadis Ryanair?
ReplyDeleteNo room for them for now, W6 is the king in Macedonia✈️
DeleteIt would be very good if Ryanair started flights too for the long term maturity of the airport and the market. But its unlikely for a while more and Skoplje has a strong relationship with wizzair which has provided what is a miny market with good connectivity these years.
DeleteCouple months ago clearly we saw how Ryanair wants to enter some market, honestly we dont need them if thats true. Any low cost is welcomed in Macedonia and its good to have someone new but not Ryanair. For now Wizz air is doing amazing job and they have plans for future growth and expansion which umis great
DeleteOh give it a rest boring
DeleteIs there more room for growth or the ceiling is near? Based on the population, the location and the demand.
ReplyDeleteyou keep repeating this since 2011
DeleteHow do you know who I am? :D
DeleteThere is room for growth of course. They also planning to expand the terminal capacity by 2030, so the airport will be able to handle between 4.5 and 5 million passnegers during one year, now the max capacity is around 4.3 which is realisticly to be reached by 2028
DeleteThe cieling isnt far off thats for sure. But great to see people being able to travel buy air more. I remember the days when getting to North Macedonia was expensive and often lengthy.
DeleteExpensive and without direct routes, now there is more direct routes as well with the low cost airline such as Wizz air , people can reach almost any city in europe
DeleteBravo SKP 👏
ReplyDelete🇲🇰🇲🇰
Deletejust noticed that PRG, NAP and Bari are increased to 4 weekly in summer
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteHow are these destanations 4 weekly and Eindhoven one of the most og routes 3 weekly in summer when it was 5 weekly 2-3 years ago blows my mind
DeleteI guess the local market is becoming stronger and people have more money to spend on outbound tourism
DeleteThank you Wizz!
ReplyDeleteHopefully to see more new leisure routes from them this or next year :)
DeleteIn march SKP airport get close to 300k in a single month is impressive growth!!Hopefully OHD will have great year as well and of course more routes and new airlines for both airports in future
ReplyDeleteWow what a growth!!
ReplyDeleteNow it's time for Skopje to upgrade the security lanes to improve speed and convience. That's their least efficient process and most chaotic at the moment.
They will increase security police lanes as well scanning of the luggage with new x-ray that everything after this will go faater and smootlhly. Finally will no need anymore to remove electronics from ur backpacks which I hate alot
DeleteSome automated passport controls would also be more than welcome to make it even smoother
DeleteSKP 800k and OHD 40k for the first 3 months of the year are amazing growth for both airports, great job I wish very succesfull year and more routes and airlines to come!!
ReplyDeleteTake a rest from this obsessiveness
Deletemate you are obsessed as well just in the opposite way. He didnt say a single bad thing about others
DeleteI cant stand nationalism
Delete23:02 mate the article is for Macedonia passengers numbers , why are you obssesed with any positive news from Macedonia ? Nationalism is saying good
DeleteFor your country?? You probably not ok
Amazing results in these turbulent times when growth is sluggish elsewhere.
