Air Montenegro has said it will not engage in a price war with Wizz Air after the budget airline based two Airbus A321neo aircraft in Podgorica this summer and launched seventeen new routes, several of which overlap with the flag carrier's network. Air Montenegro, which operates a fleet of three Embraer E195 aircraft, will compete directly with Wizz Air's 239-seat A321neos on routes including Ljubljana and Rome.

Asked by EX-YU Aviation News at the recent Slovenian Aviation and Travel Summit how the carrier will compete against the low cost airline, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tihomir Dragaš, said, "We intend to differentiate ourselves because we are not offering the same product. We have no plans to engage in a price war. As a smaller carrier, that is not a battle we could win. Instead, we will compete on service quality, on-time performance and the overall customer experience we provide. At this stage, we believe that is the right approach. So far, booking trends have remained stable compared to last year, and our forecasts remain positive. We are optimistic about the months ahead".

Their flights to Ljubljana are for sure half empty. They are offering tickets for 60-70 euros on all the flights in the peak season. After what we saw, I dont feel sad for them.

For a flight yesterday when I looked up Wizz had only like 20 seats left to purchase, while AM had less than 20 seats not available.

ZAG didn't work with 18 euro Ryanair flights, so I doubt AM could make it work.

If wizz will fly 5pw skopje and 5pw podgorica and return to london and brussels maybe they would consider basing aircraft in Ljubljana

      - Luton would be Wizzair UK.
      - Why would they fly these routes from a much more expensive base (LJU)

But is TGD really performing that well? The prices are much lower than on LJU-SKP.

Its never gonna command high fares and definatly very low income from extras such as luggage and seat selection. Useful for travellers however

They could fly Prague, Bucharest, Rome and Cyprus routes from Ljubljana, but I expect that to happen only if BEG base closes down

That has nothing to do with BEG or planes. LJU is expensive for them and that won't change. The reason they fly SKP and TGD to LJU is because they get money for it from the Macedonian and Montenegrin governments.

The reason the fly SKP is that they have PASSENGERS. Just look at the April number for this route

Nobody says they don't have passengers. But if there was not financial support for the route, they never would have launched it.
