NEWS FLASH
LOT Polish Airlines is further downgrading its Warsaw - Skopje service over the winter season. The carrier plans to maintain flights between the two capitals until November 30, after which services will be suspended until February 22. Last winter season, the carrier maintained operations on the route until January 12, resuming flights on February 22.

that's a LOT to swallow
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, my humor is broken
DeleteSkopje keeps losing legacy carriers, no demand or what is happening?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is yields are thin.
DeleteThe city is well connected nowadays via LCC which clearly js going to damped the demand for one-stop flights around Europe. The N.MK market is after all relatively small which we often forget.
DeleteLOT traditionally cuts Skopje during the winter time period , this is not the first time and nothing to worry about. From December until February the aiport facing huge fog issues and alot of cancelling flights and diverted as well. Nothing to worry about
DeleteCancelling flights by multiple airlines is not "nothing to worry about" for passengers who would have used these flights to get to places.
DeleteLLC doesnt have anything with the legacy carrriers , plus LOT does not face any direct competition on this route or any other lets say Wizz air route to Poland. It is just normal winter cuts for cities like SKP who faces winter fogs delays and cancelled flights exactly the period between December to February

DeleteDid you read the news? It clearly says they suspnded the route last year but the difference is the duration, which is now much longer.
Would be bad and to worry if they suspend completely
DeleteWinter demand is low so they did smart decision not to fly that period, not like OU who will send A220 even when there is no demand :D
Deletenow there canot be any objections from TAV to "protect LOT" if Wizz wants to launch Warsaw Modlin
ReplyDeleteThere is no demand for Warsaw modlin my friend, LOT covers the demand especially from March until November and they are strong during summer peak months. Obviously the winter demand is low so Wizz air will not cover to as well , because this is most transfer option , with Wizz air will be p2p will not be possible to fill A321
DeleteLMAO the high density experts again. They have flights to LJU, PRG and BUD, WMI is a logical next step.
DeleteLOT or any other legacy carrier at SKP doesnt cover at all any p2p demand
LOT doesnt cover p2p clearly I said it is transfer option , read before commenting ;)
Deleteyou literally wrote "LOT covers the demand" ...
DeleteLOT covers the demand in the most peak months during the year for the trasnfer passengers , and very few p2p
Deletethe Wizz and legacy markets at SKP are two parallel universes koi nemaat nikakva dopirna tocka
DeleteWho does compare those things ??
Delete15.38 and 18.45
Deletethey obvioulsy cater mostly to US and CAN diaspora plus polish tourists during the warmer half of the year
ReplyDeleteExactly this is transfer option for US/Canada and summer polish tourists , the demand obviously in winter is lower which of course people for transfer are low too.. this is smart decision not to fly the period when there is no demand
DeleteChance for YU to get more transfer passengers
ReplyDeleteYU anyway is getting transfer passengers out of SKP ...
DeleteGood news for JU.
ReplyDeleteSkopje was definitely overserved for a city of its size.
Not only that , LOT as well Lufthansa increase their tickets prices , not all markets in ex-yu can sustain this increasing of the tickets. Some markets do but Skopje market is not that powerful and expensive.
DeleteWe also should not forget the jet fuel shortage will really bite next winter.
ReplyDeleteThis summer airlines will burn through their reserves until very little will be left over.
Can imagine this also happening at other airports in the former country.
Every airport in Ex-yu region is facing those cutting and reducing as well cancelling. Almost all big legacy airlines are facing problems with the jet fuel prices that are high and not all markets can sustain the rapid ticket price raise and thats why they decide to suspend certain routes. Thats why Lufthansa left Skopje before that they rapidly increase the tickets and of course the demand of booking will slow down. Same with LOT
