Podgorica Airport has temporarily restricted access to its passenger terminal amid increased traffic and congestion during the peak summer travel period. Under measures introduced on August 11, entry to the terminal is being prioritised for passengers whose check-in counters are already open, while those seeing off or waiting for arriving travellers have been asked to remain outside unless they are accompanying someone requiring assistance. The airport has also advised passengers to arrive around two hours before departure and not significantly earlier.

Access to the building will be regulated depending on the occupancy of the check-in area, effectively allowing the airport to limit the number of people inside the terminal during particularly busy periods. Separate doors have also been designated for entry and exit to improve passenger flows, while priority access is being provided to travellers requiring special assistance, elderly passengers, parents with young children and unaccompanied minors. It comes as the airport experiences capacity pressures on the back of record traffic, fuelled by the opening of a two-aircraft Wizz Air base this summer.
