NEWS FLASH
Lufthansa has reversed its recent decision to deploy subsidiary Discover Airlines on services between Munich and Belgrade during the upcoming winter season. The German carrier now plans to operate thirteen weekly flights between the two cities using its own mainline fleet. Previously, Discover Airlines, Lufthansa’s leisure subsidiary, had been scheduled to operate the Munich - Belgrade route on behalf of Lufthansa. However, the flights would have carried Discover Airlines’ own flight numbers and airline designator code.

Very good news! This goes to show that BEG is a lucrative market for them.
ReplyDelete*relatively.
DeleteNo, not relatively. It's obviously lucrative if they are keeping the mainline to BEG. If it was relatively lucrative then they would have made the switch to Discover.
DeleteIt shows absolutely nothing. Lufthansa is all over the place.
DeleteDiscover flies to some of Lufthansa's most lucrative markets by the way. Prices to Funchal, Palma, Larnaca etc are the highest in Lufthansa's network and those are all Discover flights.
They are leisure routes where they compete with Condor, Ryanair etc
DeleteSad for spotters, but good for passengers
ReplyDeleteLH continues brand name confusion game.
ReplyDeleteNot really, here its moving in the right direction since there is less confusion.
DeleteIt's even more confusion now. They cancelled MUC BEG, then started selling it with Discover, then returned to mainline, now doing Dolomiti in Zagreb?!?
DeleteLH has a long history of confusing passengers with shell game of disposable brand names. Does anyone still remember Lufthansa Italia? More than a decade ago, a regional(!!!) airline brand CityLine got 4-5 A340 widebodies for long-haul routes (!!!). Germanwings were replaced by Eurowings, then we got Eurowings Discover later renamed Discover Airlines. Other follies with other LH Group brands such as Air Dolomiti is just a cherry on top. LH apologists, this brand thing is not the battle you can win.
LH is a mess. Discover, Eurowings, CityLine, LH City, Germanwings … I cannot follow anymore.
DeleteComplete mess. You can add OU and BT as well
DeleteFor passengers there was no difference between CityLine or Lufthansa Italia, it's all the same.
DeleteEurowings is a very old brand so no one minds. At the end of the day Lufthansa keeps on recording more and more passengers so it's obviously not confusing them that much.
LH Italia had completely different purpose from CityLine, there was a major difference between them, It flew only from Milan and had Italian food, so no it was not the same. Just because LH keeps having more passengers doesn't mean passengers are not confused, that's not the logical conclusion. Not only passengers, but unions didn't and still don't like this shell game and how it affects them. There are tons of evidence how LH brands are example of confusing and poorly managed aviation branding. It's a total basket case and we all know it.
DeleteYet it's the most powerful airline in Europe, go figure.
DeleteRyanair is.
DeleteYet regular passenger couldn't care less about what's the name of the company, as long as it flies the route they want.
DeleteWhich other destination in the region, besides BEG, will get the LH mainline plane from MUC this winter?
ReplyDeleteYou already know the answer
DeleteZagreb until 1 January
DeleteSo from January they will only serve BEG? Interesting
DeleteThey respect biggest enemy.
Deletei mean 'enemy' is being very generous and a little over the top ;)
DeleteLufthansa try not to have a million subsidiaries to screw over it's own workforce challenge, level: still impossible
ReplyDeleteLH never announced switch to Discovery
ReplyDeleteThey loaded the flights in the system and they were selling them for days. It's only now they decided against it as BEG can support mainline operations.
Delete@14.47 what is the point of making things up? If you were uninformed that does not mean it didn't happen
DeleteHe meant that they never published a press release announcing it and that is true.
DeleteAnd why on earth would an airline publish a press release about this? Good journalism actually means not waiting for press releases.
DeleteThis looks quite ridiculous side by side:

Why is Air Dolomiti getting so much hate on here? I flew with it and it was a nice little experience. The crew is welcoming because they are Italian but overall it is not a bad product.
DeleteI read somewhere Air Dolomiti servise espresso in J? They win me with that lol
DeleteThey sell it :) But indeed Illy espresso with an amaretto morbido.
DeleteITA offers espresso and limonchello in business.
DeleteOmg, is there a pilot in this plane? I would expect all this shuffling from a low cost airline but not from the national airline of the largest European economy... It's turning out to be a joke and just showing that the line between low cost and legacy carriers is ever thinner...
