TAV Macedonia yesterday inaugurated the overhauled terminal facilities at Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport following an investment of 2.7 million euros. The project has delivered upgraded facilities and modernised passenger and staff areas, while also increasing the airport’s operational capacity. A total of 3.364 square metres of the terminal building has been renovated and adapted. The works included the expansion and modernisation of the check-in, security and passport control areas, departure gates, baggage reclaim facilities, as well as the arrivals and departures areas. The airport’s administrative building has also been expanded, providing improved working conditions for airport employees, Border Police and Customs officers.
Serkan Kaptan, CEO of TAV Airports, said, “With its modernised facilities, Ohrid Airport is ready for the next phase of growth, welcoming more passengers, creating more opportunities and further strengthening Ohrid’s and the region’s connectivity with Europe and the world”. During the first eight months of 2026, Ohrid Airport handled 232.421 passengers, representing an increase of 26.5% compared to the same period last year.
Macedonia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, welcomed the completion of the project, describing the upgraded facility as effectively a new terminal for Ohrid. “The terminal’s white exterior reflects the beauty of Lake Ohrid and the wider Ohrid region. I am extremely pleased that, following extensive work, we are today opening what is practically a new airport terminal, together with accompanying facilities that will significantly improve the passenger experience”, Mr Nikoloski said. He noted that the terminal had seen no major reconstruction for decades. “The last major works here date back to around 1970, meaning that for 56 years the terminal and its departure and arrival facilities remained largely unchanged. This investment demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and delivering tangible change across the country, including here in Ohrid”, Mr Nikoloski added.

DeleteI usually don't comment on visual identiteties, logos, liveries and interior or exterior designs, but I had to now because I simply LOVE how new OHD looks like!!! For long long time I haven't seen such nicely decorated airport!!! Stylish, elegant and tied to history and culture! Big bravo! Congratulations and all the best to OHD!!!

ReplyDelete3364 m2 is the total renovated space. Before the capacity was 400.000 anually now its 600.000 passengers anually

DeleteYes roughly 650 to 700k .. they are pretty much same buildings only OHD have now more spaces , customs , cafeteria for staff , parking lots , VIP space then the old SKP building

I was following the news about it yesterday on various media outlets in Macedonia as I was curious how it looks like now, and I had to open ex yu to actually see photos.
ReplyDeleteAll of them reported the news, but for them it was obviously more important to show the PM and deputy PM speeches instead of showing what they were actually having the speech for.

DeleteIt looks really nice. It also seems quite cheap at only €2.7M. However, I saw a video yesterday showing that there are not enough seats at the gate and many people have to stand, as well as no air conditioning at the departure gates. I hope that is not true. Did they include an escalator for people with limited mobility? I see a picture with people going down the stairs.
ReplyDeletePeople stands because alot of the space there was actually taken for PR and media conference... there is air condition maybe it was not set on its highest or max power. I dont think there is escalators available. For that amount of money probably no , it is just more make up and freshly paites walls, floors

Delete17:24 the money is payed by TAV so should not be corruption included. But if it was government cash we know some portion will go in someones pocket. At this time consruction is very expensive than it was 6-7 years ago. All the materials prices are double than before and just growing up. So for this amount the results are great
