An Air Serbia Airbus A320 sustained damage after coming into contact with an easyJet aircraft at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport yesterday evening. The incident occurred following the aircraft’s arrival in the French capital. The Air Serbia jet, registered YU-APS, suffered damage to its right wingtip after it was struck by the sharklet of the easyJet aircraft while manoeuvring on the apron. Air Serbia said its aircraft was stationary at the time and awaiting further instructions from air traffic control. “No injuries were reported in the incident. All Air Serbia passengers and crew members are safe”, the airline said.
The A320 has been taken out of service for a detailed technical inspection, while Air Serbia is cooperating with airport authorities and other relevant parties as an investigation into the circumstances of the incident gets underway. The carrier said any potential impact on its scheduled operations would become known once the inspection has been completed. A passenger who was on board the A320 told EX-YU Aviation News that travellers remained on the aircraft for almost two hours following the incident. Both the fire department and police arrived at the scene. According to the passenger, none of those on board felt the collision and everyone was unharmed.
The incident comes just over two months after an Air Serbia ATR72-600, registered YU-ASF, was damaged at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. Ground service equipment belonging to an external handling operator came into contact with the parked turboprop on July 28 while services were being provided to another airline. The ATR is yet to return into service. Due to the extent of the damage and the required repairs, the aircraft is expected to remain grounded until at least the end of this month.

Unlucky
ReplyDeleteYup...two aircraft down, during the time when their aircraft undergo scheduled winter maintenance....
DeleteI would assume this is fixable with considerable speed.
DeleteWhen is it a good time for such incident to occur?
Delete15 january at northern hemisphere
DeleteWho's paying for it? Insurance?
ReplyDeleteWho else do you think is paying
DeleteThat depends on whose fault it turns out to be.
DeleteAnonymous 09:28 I forgot to add Insurance from JU or easyJet?
DeleteIf the groundhandlers/Marsahaller are later found to be at fault then the insurance company that provides JU/U2 will hull insurance will subrogate costs to the ground handlers. Otheriwse its the insurance of which ever flight crew is found responsible.
DeleteThat’s why backup planes are needed. More of them
ReplyDeleteIt is generally a big waste of resources
DeleteGlad everyone is safe. Aircraft can be repaired

DeleteThis is happening more and more across the world. Here in Sydney, there have been three incidents of this kind just in the last few months. It has been identified that staffing issues at ATC at the airport are the main culprit.
ReplyDeleteI think it occurs between 40-50 times a year globally. But given there 101.5million aircraft movements a year its actually very very rare.
DeleteActually these sort of incidents are significantly up and almost all the result of ATC error and understaffing. There were over 15 incidents of this kind in New York alone this year. So your 40-50 statistic does not seem right.
DeleteProvide a link to those 15 wing clip incidents in New York if you would?
DeleteMind you a an Air Canada CRJ-900 arriving from Montreal collided with an airport rescue and firefighting vehicle while landing . The aircraft had just touched down as the vehicle was crossing the runway via Taxiway D. Both pilots were killed and dozens of people were taken to hospital.
DeleteNothing to do with wing clip issues. Literally nothing.
DeleteIt has to with ATC and a collision.
DeleteStill waiting for the 15 wingtip incidents links.
DeleteLet's wait for preliminary accident report, before making conclusions
ReplyDeleteWho is making conclusions? This is minor but frustrating for the airline.
DeleteWho has made what conclusions?
DeleteAir Serbia in official statement said that aircraft was hit by easyJet aircraft. That sounds like a conclusion
DeleteWell it was not hit by a bird. The Air Serbia plane was not moving at the time.
Delete^ what he wants to say is that he blames JU.
Deletewhy would they?
DeleteOnly Anon 10:34 blamed JU in any way.
