Air Serbia introduced flights from Niš to both Vienna and Malta on Sunday, replacing Ryanair, which had recently vacated both routes following its exit from the Serbian market. Both routes will be maintained twice per week, with flights to the Austrian capital operated by the ATR72-600, while deploying an Airbus A319 to Malta. As a result, Air Serbia’s Niš network now counts seven year-round destinations, adding to its existing services to Belgrade, Cologne, Hahn, Istanbul and Ljubljana. The carrier also maintains seasonal summer flights to Athens and Tivat. Unlike its other Niš flights, Vienna and Malta are not operated as part of its Public Service Obligation contract.
Commenting on the new services, Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, said, “By commencing direct services from Niš to Vienna and Malta, we are continuing to develop Air Serbia’s network and offer passengers from southern Serbia additional travel opportunities. Both destinations are highly important for tourism and business travel, as well as for Serbian citizens living and working abroad. We believe the new routes will contribute to the further development of traffic from Niš Constantine the Great Airport and enable passengers from Niš and the wider region to travel more easily and affordably to important international destinations”.

How are the LFs?
ReplyDeleteBravo Air Serbia 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteI used INI 2 weeks ago for the first time in my life. I was shocked at how modern the airport is. More modern than BEG! It's just such a shame it is so underutilized.
ReplyDeletecant be for real
DeleteIt is. Boarding pass scanners, very modern building, duty free, cafes, everything was new. Looks really good actually but there is not much point to it when it is really not used much.
DeleteCafes? Where did you see a cafe on the airport besides that ridiculous stand in an old Fiat 500 car? Oh and its before the security so you can have any liquids past it.
DeleteAnd by duty free you mean that one wall with whole bunch of random stuff and one single counter?
They dont even have a single coffee machine nor drinks dispenser past the security. The ''lounge'' sits closed. No water fountains either. The airport building is nice, but lacks amenities and most importantly FLIGHTS.
It has FLIGHTS:

You are misrepresenting things with that link, TBS, GYM and RTM were chartered flights. INI has a total of 10 scheduled flights a week, are you happy with that? Today they had TWO flights for the WHOLE DAY!
DeleteI am happier than having 0 flights which you seem to be advocating. You are angry that someone stepped in to replace Ryanair which abandoned the airport.
Delete@22:55 That's the link from fr24, so I am not misrepresenting it. Route network shows 7 year-round Air Serbia destinations (also mentioned in this news article) and 3 Wizz destinations, for a total of 10 INI destinations. There are no TBS, GYM and RTM destinations on that fr24 route map, please take an eye exam ASAP. Finally, Anon 17:29 claimed airport lacks FLIGHTS. That was a complete lie, and route map provided in the link was the proof. Happy to deconstruct your false claims 24/7!
DeleteNo one was advocating for no flights, quite the opposite. Where did you get that from?
DeleteHappy birthday to Air Serbia. 🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteNek' vam je sa srećom, i za Maltu i za Beč!
ReplyDeleteSo just 2 airlines in the winter season serving an area of 370.000 people ? ( Nisava District ) . That's so sad .
ReplyDeleteflights to 10 destinations in winter, which isn't so bad.
DeleteINI covers a lot wider catchment are, minimum 3 million people, including parts of Bulgaria and Macedonia. And Kragujevac on the north
Delete"covers"
DeleteThose other areas are better covered from SOF, SKP and BEG. INI has 9 international destinations in the winter which is fine. For comparison, this is the number of international destinations for the next 7 days for the following airports:
DeleteOSI: 1
PUY: 1
RJK: 2
OHD: 3
ZAD: 4
Comparing apples and pears though.
DeleteComparing apples and apples, INI has more destinations than Tuzla and more than Banja Luka:
Deletehttps://www.flightradar24.com/data/airports/tzl/routes
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/airports/bnx/routes
Apples and pears but in INI’s favour.
DeleteI did use Air Serbia last night from Venice to Skopje, booking last minute ticket at the airport after missing the direct Venice to Skopje flight, arrived 55 minutes before departure and they had a strict 1 hour luggage drop limit. I'm positively surprised from the experience onboard the ATR, although can't compare with the jets, but it wasn't as loud as I expected to be. One minus for BEG airport is that the business lounge closes at 11PM, with many flights departing after that, it's pity not to have a place where to lounge using bank cards, even Skopje airport with much less flights have the lounge operationg 24/7
ReplyDeleteBest of luck.
ReplyDeleteSoooo, are those PSOs actually needed?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely
DeleteNeither the route to VIE nor the route to MLA falls under the PSO.
DeleteIn fact it explicitly states that in the text
Delete"Unlike its other Niš flights, Vienna and Malta are not operated as part of its Public Service Obligation contract."
Why fly cheap with Ryanair when you can pay more to fly with Air Serbia? Absolutely ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteFares are actually cheaper on these routes than Ryanair. Then again Ryanair left on their own. So I guess instead of cheaper flights with Air Serbia you would prefer no flights at all
DeleteStarting prices were €23, including hand luggage, which in their case, amounts to 12 kg. It would be hard to find a cheaper option with Ryanair.
DeleteHe seems desperate, because JU stepped in. And even more desperate that JU is cheaper that FR. Hard days night.
