Sarajevo’s largest airlines by scheduled seat capacity, September 2026

Which airline's capacity grew the most year on year?
DeleteIsrair i Arkia u stvari nisu redovni prijevoznici za SJJ, greska! [S.K.]
DeleteVery big seasonality for capital airport
ReplyDeleteMost airports have a significantly larger number of pax between May and September, not only SJJ.
Deletesure but not with such a huge gap compared to Jan, Feb. I dont wanna know how the difference will be this winter
DeleteIt has the highest seasonality of all exyu capitals.
DeleteWhy so? Is it partly connected to weather conditions at Sarajevo?
DeleteFar fewer tourists visit it in winter, both from the middle east and western European tourists.
Deletelol the tourism guy again
Deletebecause Bosnian airports are canibalising themselves all year but winter routes are not more economically viable this way
Delete@16:15 what?
DeleteEx-Yu capitals ranked by summer seasonality:
DeletePodgorica 3.92x
Sarajevo 2.20x
Ljubljana 2.16x
Belgrade 1.68x
Zagreb 1.52x
Skopje ~1.52x
Pristina ~1.30x
Method: June to August 2026 passenger totals divided by December 2025 to February 2026 totals. Higher = more seasonal.
thanks for taking the time to calculate all this! honestly
DeleteVery nice indeed, but I hope that the likely change of government in the Sarajevo Canton doesn't mess things up, and that the very high level of professionalism from the airport staff's side will be something that continues into the future. The fact that the increase in number of passengers from 2022 to 2026 is way higher than from 2007 to 2019 certainly makes me worried.
ReplyDeleteOdlican rezultat!
Delete19:28 The new government, even if it is formed in the way SDA, SBIH and DF want, will have a very very slim majority (18 against 17, with possibility to have some "preletači"), with the former government also having to be included in some cantonal bodies due to Sarajevo Canton constitution (SDA/SBIH/DF don't have enough Croats, Serbs and Others to include them in cantonal bodies, while previous Trojka government have them). Therefore, I don’t expect drastic changes when it comes to cooperation with Sarajevo Airport. It will be a messy situation in Sarajevo and I give new Sarajevo government max two years to collapse. So, no worries for Sarajevo Airport, I would say.
DeleteDo we know if Aegean will restart flights from 2027?
ReplyDeleteI hope that 2027 will be a record year for SJJ (Easyjet starting flying there, RyanAir flying again from late March (tickets already on sale), WizzAir opening new routes, ...)
ReplyDeleteUnless the aviation market collapsed they're surely going above 2.5 million and depending on new routes maybe even close to 3
Deletedream on
DeleteIcelandair has recently announced that they're launching a route between Reykjavik-Keflavik and St. Louis on 5/14/2027. Why not a direct Sarajevo-Reykjavik route now?
ReplyDeleteFor whom, 3 pax weekly?
DeleteSt. Louis has a Bosnian community of over 60,000 people, and that is not Icelandair's only North American route.
Deletewhy not non stop to St.Lous on A380?
