Zagreb Airport welcomed its four-millionth passenger of the year yesterday and anticipates for 2026 to become its busiest, which will be overtaken in 2027 as well. In a statement, the airport said, “Despite the challenging environment facing the aviation industry, including rising operational costs, geopolitical developments and capacity constraints, Zagreb Airport has demonstrated remarkable resilience. Over the past several years, passenger traffic has continued to grow significantly, exceeding 2019 levels by almost 40% and outperforming many European airports that have yet to achieve comparable growth rates”. It added, “At the same time, Zagreb Airport continues to benefit from one of its key competitive advantages: low seasonality. Unlike many leisure-focused destinations, Zagreb enjoys stable year-round traffic generated by a balanced mix of business, tourism, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) travel. This provides airlines with greater sustainability and supports consistent connectivity throughout the year. Building on the strong performance achieved to date, Zagreb Airport remains confident about the outlook for the remainder of the year and expects 2026 to become another record year in its history”.
Zagreb Airport handled 3.622.547 travellers during the first three quarters of the year, up 1.1% on the same period in 2025.
As previously reported, Zagreb Airport faces a challenging winter season following a slowdown in growth.
Always a step ahead of the rest! Bravo ZAG!

DeleteIncredibly
DeleteDefine "the rest". Certainly not ahead of all airports in scope of this website.
DeleteThey were being vaguely provocative. Ignore them
DeleteSo ZAG got their 4th million passenger five hours earlier than last year? Bravo
DeleteFunny man
DeleteIf they only handled 4 million passengers yesterday, it suggest October will be a disaster because it means they handled 377,453 by 26 October. With just 5 days left of the month, it looks like they maybe reach 410,000 that is down over 10% on October 2025. Or am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteSo far October growth stands at +0.5% so not too bad.
DeleteThen the numbers they published do not add up.
DeleteWhat in hell does that statute represent? First Croat in Space?
ReplyDeleteIts called Freedom Forward and is part of the artist Brendan Murphy's spaceman series. There are quite a few around the world. Its nice and 7meters tall.
DeleteIts nice but tbh it kinda looks out of place with all the greyness behind it. And 7m? Damn that huge and thats what she said.
DeleteSaw it on the social media few days ago. It looks amazing from my perspective and so far I saw only positive comments on the social media. It's a boonji heading to the unknown.
Delete+1 agreed. Looks great.
