Ljubljana Airport reduces turnarounds by six minutes

NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport has managed to reduce aircraft turnaround times by an average of six minutes in January and February. It comes after the airport started utilising software, which gathers objective data from every ground handling process, to optimise turnaround performance. Claus Grunow, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Digitalisation at airport operator Fraport, said, “We are optimising all our processes on the apron to shorten the time each aircraft needs to be on the ground, which benefits both our passengers and our airline partners. This is a common issue across our airports, and we are talking to all of them about this technology”. Ljubljana Airport is the first within Fraport’s portfolio to test software.

The only airport in the region that does not need to be efficient.
They net 2 flights per hour if so

Thats why they tested it in LJU. Wonder what the results will be if they test it at a BUSY airport.

Lol sure, that is why yesterday morning they needed 57' to turnaround JU's ATR.

That's a statistic. It doesn't mean every flight will have a flat out 6 minute faster turnaround. By average, however, yes, the turnaround is shorter

Do we know that they (LJU airport) needed, JU or someone else needed? Usually it’s a combination of several factors that effect on turnaround.

It cannot have been JU because the flight was half-empty, if you are referring to the INI rotation.

@Anon 14.23 unfortunately there's an absolute lack of logic in your post. Of course it could be a reason within the influence of JU, even with just a single passenger on the regarding rotation

Two positive posts about LJU on the same day and all the salty armchair commanders come out.

By all means, this new development will bring more destinations and more frequencies, as it will allow for more slots due to to the current overwhelming congestions at LJU.

What's up with all the negative comments? If this was any other airport nearby, there would have been 10 'bravo' comments instead.

Exactly, beside, fraport is ofcorse going to test it in LJU for the first time and not in FRA. And maybe airport like BEG should use one as well, because their plane handling is terrible.

4 of these 6 minutes is saved by making pax wait for 20min between the gate and the aircraft.
