NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia is negotiating the lease of an additional two Airbus A320 aircraft. This is in addition to the one A320 the carrier has already signed a Letter of Intent to lease and is due to arrive during the upcoming 2025/26 winter season, as recently reported. As EX-YU Aviation News learns that the latter will feature sharklets and has formerly been operated by Wizz Air. As a result, the airline’s fleet of A320s is expected to grow to six.
And the age? I hope it's not 15+ again
ReplyDeleteI think one is from A3 so I doubt it will be younger than 15.
DeleteThe ex Wizz aircraft will probably be current HA-LW# aircraft. YU-APS was formerly registered HA-LWK. They are between 11 and 13 yo.
Delete@12:38 what source do you have that one of the A320s is coming from Aegean. If one is coming from wizz, and another from Aegean, do you know where the other is coming from?
DeleteFrom what I know two A320 are coming from Wizz Air and the third from Aegean.
DeleteAegean's A320s are a bit older than Wizz Air's since they didn't mind doing the D check.
Sorry, I understood that after one already signed, two more is coming from Wizz? Or I understood wrongly?
DeleteNo, we only know that first A320 will come from Wizz. The other two A320 mentioned in the article are still being negotiated.
DeleteFirst one is a done deal and it is from Wizz. Now they are negotiating for another one that is right now flying for Wizz Air and finally third potential one is right now with Aegean.

DeleteNo, that is what you only know.
I quoted the official source. What you "potentially know" ain't an official info anywhere yet. Just calm down your attitude.
DeleteI am calm, it's you who need to calm down with attacking others. Like I said, they are negotiating for two more planes, one from W6 and other from A3. You will find out soon if everything go well.
DeleteWhere can I read that news about A320 Aegean?
DeleteYou will read it soon once the negotiations are over. Until then you can read it on here in comments.
DeleteMany thanks for the info guys.
DeleteAm I right to assume that JU will have to pay for the two ex Wizz Airbuse's D-check?
In this case I hope they get a real cheap lease rate for them.
Well these planes are not owned by Wizz, they are just leasing them. It all depends what kind of deal JU makes with the lessor. Maybe JU will pay for it and in return get a nice big discount.
DeleteHow much does a A320 "D" check cost approximately? Ball part figure is fine...
DeleteGoogle tells me a D check for a 15 year old B733 goes as high as $1.5 million so my guess an A320 is up to $2 million. That's why airlines like Ryanair avoid doing it.
DeleteGood additions for replacing A319s.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they'll also manage to find E-jets.
Hopefully YU-ATB and YU-ATC enter service at some point.
DeleteOnly one A319 is leaving this year, second will be next year, probably after summer.
DeleteYU-ATB entered service late last year.
Delete@12:39
DeleteTwo A319 will be phased out after this summer, maybe even third until the end of the year.
Nonsense. YU-APK is leaving in September, YU-APB will leave next year.
DeleteBut there was an article saying that two A319 will leave, has something changed in the meantime?
DeleteIt said two will leave after summer. Eventually all A319s will be replaced.
Deletehttps://www.exyuaviation.com/2025/04/air-serbia-to-phase-out-two-a319s.html
YU-APK has not been flying for months.
DeleteThat's why Air Serbia is saying goodbye to it. It has become quite a problematic bird for JU.
DeleteIt is a 22 year old aircraft and maintaining it properly costs a LOT and takes time.
DeleteBetter replace it with a newer bird.
There are times when older planes are ok but then there are certain models that just keep on breaking down. There is no general rule. But I do agree with you, JU deserves newer planes.
Delete@13:24 FYI YU-ATB is not flying again for several weeks, it is under maintenance AGAIN !?! Overall seems like E195 are the most difficult planes to get into regular service.
DeleteWhat? ATB went for maintenance on April 4th and it went again? What is JU doing with this plane?!
Delete@18:10
DeleteThat doesn't mean the aircraft never entered service. The aircraft isn't difficult to get into service, but JU doesn't seem entirely happy with how the previous leasee maintained the aircraft and are swapping parts. With YU-ATB having a problematic start, the aircraft tipped to be YU-ATA must of been similar or worse since JU gave up on the aircraft.
@18:12
No, it hasn't returned yet from maintenance.
Wasn't it on maintenece just before New Year?
Delete- YU-ATB, What is JU doing with this plane?
DeleteThey are scheduling it. It will operate JU370 in 3 days.
Good, after like two months.
DeleteI hope they can use A320 to Russian destinations more often
ReplyDeleteThey need two A321s for that.
DeleteSome say that flights to Russia are half empty.
DeleteThe major issue is the aircraft lessors who do not allow airlines operating the aircraft they own to Russia.
DeleteIn case something happens to them getting parts to Russia to service them and fly them back out can take months.
JU and other airlines are using aircraft that thy own outright for these flights.
@17:36 APH, APS, APO and most A319 flying to Russia are not owned by JU. All depends on the insurer and not the lessor.
DeleteIdemo dalje....
ReplyDeleteIf it's an ex-wizz bird, what would the cabin situation be? I'm guessing it'll have to be changed over to a less cattle-like setup.
ReplyDeleteThey always changed the cabin, same situation as with YU-APS.
DeleteFive??!? I would say total of six
ReplyDeleteLet's hope there is less need for wet leases next summer. Maybe one less Lithuanian, they wouldn't need more than two of them.
ReplyDeleteI am more in favor of adding new routes and increasing frequencies.
DeleteThat's why they are getting the E95s!
DeleteThey should also get E190s, FB E190s seem to be doing a great job for JU and them wet leasing them for multiple years isnt ideal. Would be great if they could get some of their own E90s to pair with the E95s.
DeleteOr maybe see with lessor to sell them those E90s. They are probably not expensive.
Delete3/4 E190s are owned by Bulgaria Air.
DeleteHorrendous, uncomfortable plane like every other Airbus . I'd rather fly the Q400 or ATR.
ReplyDeleteYes, the new ATR planes are really comfortable.
DeleteBravo Air Serbia 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteThank you for your support.
Delete😅 😅 😅
DeleteTo recap:
ReplyDeleteE190/195 fleet growing, possibly to 10
A320 fleet growing, possibly to 10
A319 fleet shrinking down to 3, with those 3 A319s to be used as backup or for summer charters
Quite smart how JU leases used aircrafts at affordable costs, rather than just go for expensive next generation aircrafts, where leasing is expensive or slots to get them is difficult. And by doing this, they are profitable and that's what counts. Bravo JU !
DeleteThat's what many carriers did in the past, just look at Aegean which started with old generations of B733 and B734 and then transitioned to new generation some 15 years later (A320neo and A321neo). There are many other examples.
DeleteSo they are going down a safe road which is good. JU fleet planning is doing a very good job.
HA-LWR parkiran ?
ReplyDeleteДа, то је тај.
DeleteLove it! Congratulations to the JU fleet managers on doing a fantastic job! Keep it up guys.
