NEWS FLASH
Wizz Air is considering launching a new route between Budapest and Ohrid, Macedonia’s Minister for Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, has announced. The service is expected to commence during the 2026 summer season. Meanwhile, the airline has yet to schedule flights between Ohrid and Basel, despite being selected to receive subsidies for the route. Earlier this year, Wizz Air discontinued its Budapest – Skopje service after eight years of operations.
This minister is known fir telling fairy tales.
ReplyDeleteVeliki lažov.
Delete10:34 why ? Does he sleeps and wake up and say this news ? Are you ok buddy ? He is saying there is a talks and consideration from W6 to maybe open service to OHD next year , so whats the problem ?OHD is trying to grow and any route is welcomed.
Delete10:42 wjat did he lie you ?
Where is Ohrid- Basel flight.
DeleteU did not read the article ? It is under scheduling , look it twice!!
DeleteThis is the same minister which announced that Qatar will commence the flights very soon :)
ReplyDeleteWhen did he announce that refresh my memory ? Are u sure in what you are saying ?
Delete@14:06 Did someone pay you to defend him like this? Your reaction is like this comment was meant directly to you.
DeleteNo as well does someone pay you to attack him on every single article ? Why he is fault if an airline not let say launch the route ? It is airline decision will it launch route or not. You are the one hating on every single article and I am just nervous see that , never say anything positive only spreading negative , I hate that buddy
DeleteI also dont know why admin not delete your stupid comments!!!
16.20 you sound like his sekretarka
Delete17:52 yes as well as you , thats sound like someone eating bullsh*it on every article for someone who is minister for almost a year , and expect to do more then someone 7 years did not move with a finger. Btw in the end of the day it is airline decision will they launch it or not , definitly the minister is not making the final decision. But for you important is to speard negativity on the articles for Macedonia and just blame someone , we used on that , thats why nobody giwes attention to ur stupid nonsense comments ;)
Deletefrom which base was that Basel flight? both FMM and DTM routes are not flown with SKP based aircrafts
ReplyDeleteIt varies. It used to be Tuzla and Belgrade too
DeleteFMM is from TIA, DTM from GDN while BSL used to be flown from SKP base.
DeleteIzgleda Basel postoji samo u fantaziji ministra.
DeleteIt seems that BUD does not make sense from Macedonia, not with this WIZZ air equipment.
Malev used to fly CJR200 two decades ago, and also 737. Those planes are well smaller than the A320/321.
So this connection will only last as long as it is heavily subsidized.
It seems that SKP BUD can function with ATR72 or Embraer 170. More than that is too ambitious.
"Heavily subsidized", lol.
DeleteIt never made sense in the first place, P2P traffic was barely there and the "heavy subsidies" would cover 5% of the flight costs at max. They probably lost millions on it.
Even subsided the route didnt work out , thats why they cutted. Wizz didnt poses any Atr72 if they yes could maybe work but in this case the route is not reliabale for them..
DeleteAverage load factor on the route was not below 80%. The demand is there but because the tickets were cheap. Why whould Wizz use their plane twice a week on that route when they can deploy it on Dortmund and sell tickets for 100-150 euros?
Delete16:02 make sense , but did you know that the route was subsided by hungarian goverment ...I think that was the only one , and probably they dont see profit anymore ans they cut it.
Delete@viktor kunovski nema vrska da sporeduvas Malev i Wizz (vidi Adria i Wizz ) nitu deka linijava nemala patnici
Delete@others LF was not lower then on other routes
Linijata nema patnici bidejki bese sponzorirana od vladata na ungadija i biletite bea eftini , samata kompanija nemase nikakva zarabotka , zosto da drzi avion na ruta koa nema dobivka ? A ima drugi ruti koj sto imaat pobeke dobivka , toa e biznis simple
DeleteSKP-BUD was the only route subsided from Hungarian government , because of the low demand they decide to cut...plus SKP and OHD both have Vienna who is just 2 hours away from Budapest , and SKP-BTS is 1.5 hour away from Budapest too.It is impossible having 3 airports service to such a short distance... thats why they are giving a try to OHD. And should work especially in summer. OHD is growing slowly and any chance is welcomed.
ReplyDeleteOhrid also has flights to Vienna according to your logic. If there was no demand for the route they wouldnt have waited 8 years to cut it.
DeleteOhrid do have flights for Vienna you dont know that ?
DeleteI say no demand or probably no profit because it was subsided by hungarian goverment ... and probably cheap tickets as well.
Budapest from Ohrid Airport will likely not operate for more than one season if launched as a new route.
ReplyDeleteVienna has four weekly flights in summer operated with an A321.
Ohrid needs a destination that will be used by the diaspora throughout the whole year, as well as some tourists in the summer for tourism purposes.
The destinations with the highest demand from Ohrid are: Basel, Malmö, Treviso, Baden-Baden, Eindhoven, Friedrichshafen, Gothenburg.
The tender in Macedonia offering €12 per passenger for Ohrid and €9 for Skopje has been open for almost a year, and the results are very low. It seems that no airline is willing to use its capacity in Macedonia — the market is too small for them when they have the option to choose other European cities instead.
If they launch the route it would be seasonal for sure not a year round. I understand what you are saying , but cannot only getting gasto routes. Both airports need a mix of gasto and touristic cities ad well as Europe hub connections. The tender launched in Octomber giwes a results why saying that. SKP gets so far 6 launched routes from 9 selected , the other 3 Dubai,Stutrgart abd Geneva will be launched after summer season. It always need a time , and tender is open just yet and there are talks , it just need a time for any airline to bring decussion
DeleteOhrid has a potentinal and deserves more and any route is more then welcomed. After the Covid hit it is still very down then what it used to be.So need alot of work to grow again. I hope it will get more routes in future. As well renovating is on going should that also attract more airlines to giwe a try.
ReplyDeleteThats because previous government did not do nothing for 7 years , and now we want magic to happend by night, no not possible. Need alot of hard work and time and effort. For sure better days are coming for OHD especily with TK to IST
Deletecan anyone tell me when the MLH - OHD route will go into operation? I hear a lot, but I don't see anything yet...
ReplyDeleteW6 is scheduling MLH , as company said should launch Octomber or November this year , but we still wait for official announcment...
