airBaltic has scheduled a new seasonal winter service to Ljubljana. As previously reported, the carrier will commence a weekly rotation between its Las Palmas base on the Canary Islands and the Slovenian capital. Flights will operate on Fridays, with exception to the inaugural service, from October 25 until March 27. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s website. Further flight details can be found here. The carrier will maintain the Las Palmas flights alongside its two weekly Riga service, which is operational up until January 12, 2026, resuming March 2. Commenting on the new route, Mantas Vrubliauskas, Vice President Network Management at airBaltic, said, "We are thrilled to launch direct flights from Ljubljana to Gran Canaria - one of the few warm-weather holiday destinations that will be directly accessible from Slovenia in winter. This route fills a clear gap in the market and allows Slovenian passengers to travel to the Canary Islands easily and comfortably. At the same time, we remain committed to strengthening connectivity from Slovenia, continuing direct flights to Riga and enabling seamless travel to the Baltics, Northern Europe and other parts of Europe via our growing network".

This is the first AirBaltic flight that isn't connecting Baltics/Sacandinavia...huge news!
ReplyDeleteIt's more or less a charter flight.
DeleteIf TradeAir offered that kind of "charter" flights, things would be great at Ljubljana
DeleteTradeAir should be selling a 10 or so seats on their own on those charters, more times than not about 15 seats are empty
DeleteThese flights are obviously for tour operator with some seats on free sale. The reason I say that is because there is no flight sold from LPA to LJU on 25 October. It means there is no tour group to return back to Ljubljana.
DeleteNo its exclusive schedule and not charter. Return ticket end of oct = 257 eur
DeleteFirst flight going from LJU to LAP is very logical since AirBaltic LPA base is seasonal, winter one.
DeleteThe 25.10 flight will be first repositioned from Riga to Ljubljana (no return flight) and then go to LPA, where it will stay as a base aircraft
DeleteAmazing!!!
ReplyDeleteJust one weekly flights is dissapointing...on the other side this opens up AirBaltic stationing one A220 in Ljubljana for the summer
ReplyDeleteIs there any chance for AirBaltic stationing a plane in Ljubljana for Summer 2026?
DeleteThere are reports of PSO flights being published by the gov in October...if that's the case, yes, AirBaltic will jump in
DeleteMakes sense, thank you!
DeleteStop spreading fake news, the GOV will NOT publish PSO!
DeleteAnd if PSO is published, Jasmin will win!!!! 🤣
DeleteThe Gov has confirmed they'll be reforming the aviation law which will include new provisions on subsidies. Whether they'll be a POS or not, we don't know yet, but imo they just need to improve conditions for subsidies more than anything
DeleteExcellent News 💪😃
ReplyDeleteSo is this part of the Slovenian tender or not?
ReplyDeleteWe don't know yet, but probably is
DeleteOne would hope not, but the government said they'll announce the results this week, so the guess is that they let them know about the results yesterday
DeleteGreat news for Ljubljana! It's not much, but has the potential to evolve into more. Eventually it will grow to 2 weekly, then year-round, then additional frequencies, etc. Good luck, neighbours
ReplyDeleteThe hope here is for AirBaltic base in Ljubljana
DeleteFingers crossed, one thing though, how does this 5 day max check in window work for example if you are buying a ticket for an older person not used to smart phones - you cant check them in for return flight and print them their boarding pass gor the return flight, is this correct?
DeleteI don't think you should hope too much for year-round. The LPA base is seasonal during winter when short haul travel demand in Northern Europe drops dramatically. There is no way that BT is going to operate this in summer when they have better opportunities. Remember that LPA is far away. It costs a lot to fly there, so ticket prices need to be quite high.
DeleteAlso, most people go there for a week or longer, but if it's popular and profitable (relative to their other LPA opportunities), I agree - let's hope for two weekly.
So where is now the guy saying i was just spamming with news ... as i said, 3 more are coming ...
ReplyDeletewhich ones...and when
DeleteHere I am and great to see new routes, but you can already see the haters above: "only one per week", "this is only a charter" and soon you will also get "the flights are too expensive".
Deletetime to say SORRY :PPPP hopefully the other 3 will be official soon too.
DeleteIts Triana, Edinburgh and LTN.
Deleteno its southend ...
DeleteIf you go on EasyJet's booking page, and select Ljubljana - London (all), additional dates are displayed, compared if you just select the LGW, so that could confirm ann 14:06 suggestion
DeleteSouthend would be a funny choice, but anything helps ljubljana
DeleteIts a new base… lets see… i would prefer stansted
DeleteWould be good to get anything, but are there any articles about this?
Delete@13:46 at which kafič did you learn that?
DeleteWhy do u assume its a “kafic” info? U do understand that some people know people from Fraport?
DeleteThe same people that claimed AUH, DOH, LIS, HAM, OTP and God knows how many more are happening "soon"?
DeletePeople have been "announcing" tens or maybe even hundreds of new routes for the last 10 years and whenever one of them actually opens, they be like "told ya so".
DeleteI didnt. I told you just the ones that are actually in the final stage of negotiations…
DeleteAUH will happen for sure, but unfortunately we have Fraport operating the airport and they are actively working on this not happening.
Delete@16:25 ah so just like the ones mentioned above? Those were also apparently in final stage of negotiations..
DeleteWhat? First time i posted this info few weeks ago. It was first time i posted anything. And its not some bar chat source. But anyway… i see there is no point telling so its last time i post something.
DeleteThis sounds like more is to come...
I'm sorry but it really doesen't. They should first try to get Riga operating full year.
Delete"Ta linija zapolnjuje očitno vrzel na trgu " then do something about it mr. Mantas!!
DeleteBravo dear neighbours. Love from Zagreb.
