NEWS FLASH
Kazakhstan’s SCAT Airlines is reducing flights between Astana and Belgrade for the remainder of the 2025/26 winter season. The carrier will operate one instead of two weekly flights, on Mondays, with its Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The service was launched in November. Operations will be restored to two weekly from the start of the 2026 summer season in late March. The Kazakhstani carrier aims to launch fifth-freedom flights between Belgrade and Morocco in the coming period, pending government approval from all sides.

What happened to the codeshare agreement with JU?
ReplyDeleteThey have interline.
DeleteThey actually don't
DeleteWhy the delay?
DeleteBecause its a daft route at horrid times of the night to be of much use to JU
DeleteMinimum 3-4 hours to catch connections to and from Europe, that tells you all about the interline.
Delete@13.43 they do have an interline.
DeleteFar from surprising in my humble opinion.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised, this route will fail

DeleteDidnt people predict onward to Morocco? Of course this bizarre route wont last long. Would be great to see a trip report while we can.
ReplyDelete'Predict'? Why not read the short article?
DeleteI did and ifs still is far from sure to occur..
DeleteSo when an airline publically announces they plan to do something, you charachterise is at "people predicting". Got it.
DeleteThey need to change the times if they aim for the success
ReplyDeleteBased on infro from ground staff, load factor was really low. Now its getting better i think
ReplyDeleteI honesty think that VINCI incentive scheme is useless if random airlines suddenly show interest to launch a route. Remember some Algerian company also expressing interest to launch BEG. Then this joke about SCAT flying to Morocco. Money on their mind and nothing else...
ReplyDeleteI mean Belgrade-Astana was tailored for Air Astana, way more serious company that has much more potential on the market. And VINCI was like, yeah whatever, we will urge SCAT to launch the route and they will get Morocco as well.
Why is ot a joke. Kazakhstan citizens don't need a visa to Morocco and go there for holiday. Their planes can not make it nonstop to there.
DeleteActually a flight from Kazakhstan to Belgrade makes a lot of sense because of large number of Russians living in both countries and Morocco being a Mediterranean destination that doesn't require visas for them.
DeleteI think with better timing and a codeshare with JU that route would be big succes.

Air Astana should step in, random odd airlines can not survive long on such route.
Some people having an absolute meltdown because they reduce the route during dead of winter.
ReplyDeleteNobody's having a meltdown here. Maybe it's just you?
DeleteNope read the comments. People have already written how it is cancelled even though it's 1 per week and returns to 2 in 6 weeks.
DeleteNobody has said its cancelled. Just one of the least likely routes out of BG to mature into anything impressive.
DeleteMaybe a flight to Almaty which is the actual financial and cultural center of the country would be more successful.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you guys think?
I have 0 interest in both frankly and beside the Russians I don’t know who’s flying from/to Kazakhstan at all, and why.
DeleteI do because it's awesome.
DeleteWell I guess traveling because it’s awesome is enough for 1 per week
DeleteAlmaty makes morensence. Its nearby to other Stan countries.
DeleteThe Stans are brilliantly connected to Bgrade with a one stop in Turkey.
DeleteUAE and Qatar are also "brilliantly" connected to Belgrade wih one stop in Turkey, but sane people also realize direct flights can be developed and grown over time.
DeleteRight, because demand to UAE is comparable to that to Stans 🙂
DeleteUAE can sustain (multiple) direct flights, demand to Stans is much softer and is met with a transfer via Istanbul.
As I already answered your another "brilliant" question at the top with Spain example, demand from Belgrade to Spain some years ago was also met by transfers via Frankfurt and that is what you are repeating here. Development of Spain destinations took some time and those who suggested Spain should have been served via FRA now look like clowns. Belgrade is just starting to develop connectivity to that area and you will end up being a clown in a couple of years once Belgrade is connected to Yerevan, Baku, Tbilisi, Astana, Almaty, Tashkent etc.
DeleteThis flight was started in winter season. Reducing to once weekly in february -a time when airlines worldwide barely or never make profit-is not a failure.
ReplyDeleteIf they now continue twice weekly in summer loads will improve no doubt about that.
Kudos to them for starting this exceptional route!
