NEWS FLASH
Croatia Airlines has retired its last Airbus A320 aircraft. Registered 9A-CTO, the 21-year-old jet operated its last flight on behalf of the airline on January 26, from Amsterdam to Zagreb. It was initially planned to run its last service on February 1. The aircraft is owned by Macquarie AirFinance. Croatia Airlines introduced its first A320 in 1997. The carrier continues to operate A319s but plans to transition to an all A220 fleet next year.

I don't get it, I really don't. The plane was leased on operating hour basis, so it was exremely cheap, And with the summer around the corner, it's ideal for charters or even high load routes from SPU...but hey, OU knows best

It was leased over the peak covid season and the lease per hour was almost equal to what we are paying for dashes
DeleteCroatia doesn't have a lot of them, but there are routes like AMS where a power by the hour A320 made a lot of sense.

All routes that could without any problem take an A320 April-September
This aircraft was on power-by-hour contract at the time when it was leased. However, we don't know if contract changed.
ReplyDeleteA great step forward 🤦.
ReplyDeleteAirlines transition to larger planes, OU to smaller ones.
Considering their load factor, it makes sense. Upgrading Dash-8s to A220 does not make sense.
DeleteVery sad. The A320 is a great plane and this A320 was particularly good with an excellent interior.
ReplyDeleteWas this one with TAP interior?
