NEWS FLASH
airBaltic will introduce a new seasonal winter service between Ljubljana and Tenerife, complementing existing winter flights to Gran Canaria and its year-round Riga operations. Flights will commence on October 30 with a scheduled weekly service, on Fridays, until March 19. The carrier has indicated frequencies will be maintained twice per week, although tickets for the second rotation are yet to go on sale. Further details can be found here. The carrier faces no competition on the route. airBaltic is one of four applicants for Slovenian state subsidies aimed at launching new routes.

So the Gran Canaria route was really succesfull. Will they also increase frequencies on LPA?
ReplyDeleteBravo Fraport!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely fantastic. Didn’t see this one coming but it is very very welcome.
ReplyDeleteIt would be amazing if they increased one of those to 2x weekly. I would definitely use it for a weekend getaway.
ReplyDeleteTenerife and Gran Canaria can't really be done for a weekend getaways. These are quite far and have lots to offer. It's a crime to go only for couple of days!
DeleteMany go just for few days especially regular visitors. To be honest with summer traffic jams it doesnt take much longer than going to Umag or Poreč for a weekend in summer 🙂
DeleteExactly, many people visit in the winter for long weekends only. The climate is really good and the prices are fair.
DeleteSo the 2nd applicant after ITA to Rome is now known. I wonder what the other two are. Hopefully at-least one LCC.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Rome, Wizzair has a strong base there and could do it
DeletePodgorica with wizz?
DeleteWizz LJU -TGD 4 times already on Wizzair` s site :)
DeleteThat route was announced months ago and has been on sale for months.
DeleteSince October

Are they eligible for subsidies ?
DeleteNo, because it's not a new route.
DeleteHow is it not a new route?
DeleteFraport is fighting hard to contain the growth, however the GOV’s subsidies will break their filthy blockade. Soon or later.
ReplyDeleteLol 🤣
DeleteThe ex-yu countries must be the world's leaders in conspiracy theories
DeleteOr sarcasm in this case.
DeleteOr people in ex-Yu are least gullible because they know better from their own experience with politicians here. I wouldn’t dismiss our people too quickly.
DeleteGreat news!
ReplyDeleteThey are planning to fly to Tenerife South airport.
ReplyDeleteYes the airport is referred to as just Tenerife. Tenerife North is referred to Gran Canaria.
DeleteWrong 10.17. Gran Canaria is the other island, their airport is Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and it was the first Air Baltic service to LJU. Island of Tenerife had 2 airports, north and south. South is the bigger one and mostly used for international flights and tourists. North is smaller, and used mostly for regional and island to island flights and locals. Tenerife north has absolutely nothing to do with Gran Canaria
Delete1017 That's the most ridiculous comment I've seen all year
DeleteAhahhahahahah anon@10:17 Krasnja, is that you????
Delete@10:17 hahahahahahahahaa go home
Delete11:50 well done :))))
DeleteAmazing!!! Fingers crossed for 2 weekly but even if not still a fantastic addition!!
ReplyDeleteIt will be two weekly according to my fraport source… (EDI guy here)
DeleteHope u r right despite current schedule and tnx for all the info you ve shared with us so far & from now on 🙂
DeleteHey yes i double checked… tenerife will be 2times per week, gran canaria will for now stay on 1pw but they said maybe they will increase it… lets see.
DeleteAmazing, tnx
DeleteBS. Whats the point of these fake news? Krasnja?
DeleteI hope for additional Sunday flights for LPA too, would be great
ReplyDeleteSo AirBaltic to Tenerife and ITA to Rome (probably). Hopefully at least one LCC applied like Easyjet to Berlin or Wizz to Tirana/Sarajevo/Prague or Bucharest. Would be also nice to see SAS ro Stockholm
ReplyDeleteI can't find a reason for them not to start thinking about at least summer only flights if not a full - year round services to different destinations across Europe
ReplyDeleteAdmin it says on the extended info about the flight that therr will be two weekly flights but only Friday is marked, will the 2nd one be added later?
ReplyDeleteFlight is once per week, corrected.
DeleteTickets are already on sale if I'm not mistaken
ReplyDeleteThey are now but they published the article before they were on sale
DeleteIn Latvian airblog is information, that airBaltic will operate twice per week Tenerife South to Ljubljana from Oct 30th.
ReplyDeleteAir Baltic pressroom says the same
Deletealso my intel says so ... #EDI-guy
DeleteI love how you have gotten a name EDI guy, now you cannot stop informing us in the future! :)
Deletedidn't this site first report about these flight even before the airline put tickets on sale? or that 4 applied for subsidies. don't see any praise for them lol
DeleteThe praise for this site is kind of self-explanatory, is it not? By the fact that we’re here, every day, almost religiously. But yes - well done, Mr Ex Yu Aviation, truly. Respect and - thanks.
DeleteIf ex yu aviation was an airline It d never want to fly anyone else 🙂
DeleteI' d never..*
ReplyDeleteairBaltic is actually starting to become a serious player in Ljubljana. If we assume TFS is gonna be 2 per week, this means the airline will have 5 weekly flights to LJU in winter. This amounts to around 21 flights per month, which means a capacity of approx. 6.100 seats. This would mean they would be the 7th airline with the most capacity last November:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.exyuaviation.com/2025/12/ljubljana-airport-sees-strong-november.html
So quite irrelevant then
