Adria to operate select Austrian Airlines flights

Friday, April 8, 2016

Adria Airways will operate some flights on behalf of its Star Alliance partner Austrian Airlines. Starting May 1, Adria will run services from Vienna to Milan and Vilnius, as well as other routes when required. The Slovenian carrier will use one of Estonian Air's former Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft for the flights. As a result, the deal with Austrian will not affect any of its operations from its bases in Ljubljana, Pristina and Lodz. It comes days after Adria took delivery of a leased former Estonian Air CRJ900ER aircraft, which is based in Ljubljana. The Slovenian airline has tapped into Estonian Air's fleet after striking an agreement with the Estonian government last year to assist with the creation of the country's new national carrier following the demise of Estonian Air in November 2015.

This seems to make sense for all sides. I remember AUA did exactly the same last year to same destinations also with a CRJ that time directly leased from Estonian Air.
