Air Serbia and Alitalia have extended their cooperation to include a range of new codeshare flights. The Serbian carrier will place its own flight numbers and “JU” designator code onto Alitalia’s domestic services from Rome to Ancona, Bari, Bologna, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Lamezia Terme, Naples, Palermo, Pisa, Reggio di Calabria, Trieste, Turin, Venice and Verona. Air Serbia and Alitalia already codeshare on each other’s services between Belgrade and Rome. Both carriers are partly owned by Etihad Airways. The new codeshare agreements will come into effect at the start of the 2015/16 winter season, on October 25.
Yet Alitalia has not placed a single code beyond Belgrade on Air Serbia's flights. That goes to show how much they value or care about JU.
ReplyDeleteNice way to spin the info. You should consider a career in politics.
DeleteAli to je činjenica. Kada je Etihad kupio Alitaliju naglašavao sam kako to nije dobra vijest za Air Serbiju. Etihad će sve staviti na uspjeh Alitalije i Air Berlina, a u Air Serbija svakako odlazi u drugi plan, poglavito u konktekstu jake surdnje Aegeana i Etihada.
No sanjati o velikom broju linija i letova preko Bare iz Beograda danas više nije realno.
A sta ti mislis koliko inace AS moze napuniti aviona preko Bare? Do jednog dnevno ukljucujuci tu i Toronto.
DeleteOno sto i danas puni ASL letove jesu code share putnici, to covek shvati tek kad vidi strukturu putnika...
DeleteA quick reply to Purger's points:
Delete1) Are you suggesting that Air Serbia should wait for the subventions to end before trying to find a financially sustainable network? Cutting frequencies and unprofitable routes in the last year of the subventions is in fact the best and most rational decision a good management board can make. That way, they will have a tried and tested network for the first "subventionless" winter season, when every Dinar starts to count.
2) JU management are forced to underline the uncertainty of starting long-haul from BEG because it's the only way to counter the sensationalist statements constantly made by irresponsible politicians.
3) JU is a smaller airline than AZ and with a much more pronounced regional character, so the bias in their relationship is to be expected. The new AZ management probably doesn't have a very clear strategy for the Balkans just yet, so the decision which flights to launch directly and which to codeshare on will probably be made at a later date.

INN-NS
Nema sta da trazi u Alitalia u Bugarskoj i Rumuniji tu ih tuku LCC.
DeleteI do not see anything wrong with Purgers comment since some of the things he stated are facts and not his own imagination. It is logical that from the moment EY acquired AZ that ASL would not be in the first plan. It does not mean that they will disregard ASL, but they have two bigger companies to worry about which are AZ and AB. If somebody thinks differently, please do explain to me how is it positive for ASL that EY acquired AZ. If you are not going to give constructive feedback, dont even bother responding like 2 days ago by saying "lupetas" or so on.
DeleteAnon at 1:28, great response. I recently stopped using my nickname here but I have to say this as anon: Purger and few others wear anti-ASL biased glasses so there is no point in reasonable response. If given a task to create ASL SWOT they would focus only on W and T, completely missing out on why recent measures could enable Air Serbia to emerge even stronger for S16.
DeleteAnon 6:04, Purger was one of the few who were actually writing praises on EY/JU deal when it happened. He gives credit when credit is due.
DeleteNow, there are some difficulties, time has been lost, and again, he is noting some very objective concerns. That doesn't make him right, only time will tell, but I would strongly disagree with your statement that he is anti-JU biased. If anything, I would say it is to the contrary.
True, he was more balanced back in 2013 but now he's unable to find a silver lining in ASL changes, mostly focused on negative side.
DeleteAlitalia is issuing bonds so they are in a desperate need of additional cash...
Varna
Larnaka
Malo li je?
@12:29 AM
DeleteASL is stopping flights to Larnaca.
Smesno. Koja Larnaka?

Deleteinteresting view you bring forward.
I think that EY might focus more on feeding AZ for the moment as twice in recent years it has failed to bring to profitability. AZ has been a bigger disaster financially than Jat was, although AZ is a much larger operation. EY focused on JU, did alot, more needs to be done, however not as much as it will need with AZ. JU wasnt and isnt a large airline that needs huge attention from EY.
Italy and Serbia are 2 different markets, more higher yielding, more tourist flow, more business flow, with a decent wide body fleet, is based in the EU etc, something Serbia doesnt have. Serbias purchasing power is lower compared to Italy.
However, so far things are not soo bad in JU, operations have drastically changed in the short period, maybe not the best but neither is EY an example of a perfect operation. This morning for example, flights were delayed by at least 1 hour ex AUH while in DXB everything was on time. Operations have drastically increased for JU, and passenger numbers have practically doubled in just a little more than 12 months. JU so far is ending 1 route and LCA will be seasonal, so they are not exactly leaving the Cypriot market.
As well, lets not forget that BEG is not an airport designed for a hub operation, facilities need to drastically improved not just the tiles on the wall and a fresh coat of paint on the walls. Baggage handling is far from ideal as it is a huge problem to JU, a proper lounge facility is lacking, online check in, BEG doesnt offer much for transiting pax, no smoking areas if you dont include the toilets, over priced articles in duty free and a taxi mafia to greet our visitors to Serbia.
I see JU getting trans atlantic to enhance the Etihad Group offering in the market to counter LH group as an example, as well as other competitors in the market, who offer countless connections via many hubs (FRA, MUC, ZRH, AMS, CPH, CDG, LHR etc). Adding JU to the mix with AZ and AB might be a good thing, as it will give customers in the Etihad Guest program and its partners choice to choose a few hubs with a few airlines and more timings and transit options, and most importantly to stay loyal with the program.
I expect to see AZ in the near future as well codeshare with JU. The AB codeshare with JU wasnt immediate either.
