Air Serbia launches US codeshare flights

Thursday, January 14, 2016

Air Serbia has established one-stop air connections between Belgrade and the United States following a codeshare expansion with Air Berlin. Under the codeshare agreement, Air Serbia will place its flight numbers and designator code onto 28 weekly services operated by Air Berlin between its Berlin and Dusseldorf hubs and three key US cities including New York, Chicago and Miami. The new codeshare flights will be available for purchase from tomorrow, January 15, for travel from February 1 onwards. Dane Kondić, Air Serbia's CEO, said, “We are delighted to strengthen our partnership with Air Berlin to offer guests convenient transatlantic codeshare flights between the United States and Serbia via Germany. This development marks the historic return of our "JU" flight code to the US market and is a key part of our network development strategy as we prepare to commence a five-per-week, non-stop service to New York in June". The CEO added, “The codeshare flights to New York will complement our planned non-stop service, increasing choice, flexibility and providing travellers with daily connections to this sprawling metropolis of twenty million people". The agreement also covers services to Chicago and Miami. “Our codeshare with Air Berlin, a fellow member of Etihad Airways Partners, is a great example of how partnerships enable us to expand our network reach, strengthen Air Serbia’s brand presence and enhance connectivity for air travellers in one stroke”, Mr Kondić notes. Air Serbia will launch scheduled long haul flights to New York in June 2016.

  2. Do we know which flight numbers will be used on US routes? Both JU metal and codeshares?

Croatia ima sa SAS-om codeshare preko CPH za New York i Washington nekih 5-6 godina. Dakle, apsolutno no big deal

A ucemu je tacno problem? Sta smeta? Ovaj sajt redovno objavljuje nove codeshare ugovore?

      Primera radi

      Singapore-Croatia Airlines start codesharing
      http://www.exyuaviation.com/p/singapore-airlines-croatia-codeshare.html

Croatia Airlines - Air Canada expand codeshare
      http://www.exyuaviation.com/p/croatia-airlines-air-canada-expand.html

Well, if they don't fix the fence surrounding the airport they can for sure kiss TSA goodbye.......interesting panic situation at BEG this past week.

Anon 10:16, well you have no clue do you? Fact is that there is no fence at the back of the airport, you can just walk right it which the Ministries inspection found out last Monday....

They just found out? Umm the airport's CEO said on December 3 that the fence will be done. But keep cheering. You will need a lot of it this year.

Anon 11:04, Mr.Genius, if you check BEG's website you will make a small observation of that NO tender for any fence has been published either in 2015 nor 2016. If they publish it on Monday it will still have to be open for 30 days, which puts us in the middle of February. Then you add 2 weeks for objections etc (mandatory by law), you end up at the end of February. Then you need to sign a contract with the winner, in best case another 2 weeks....fence has to be ordered, delivered and installed which is a couple of months down the road. In best case, without any snow, there will be a fence in place in May/June....and when is TSA coming?
      Right, mid-feb...

OK THEY WILL NEVER EVER START FLIGHTS. HAPPY NOW? YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHEER ON THE SIDELINES.

Airport CEO said in Dec 3 that fence will be done? Seriously?

Purger wrote about state of BEG in Cro forum more than a year ago where he pointed out some deficiencies including security issues. Everyone interested in aviation knew about issues long time ago but airport is only now playing catchup? That's a major fail and should have been done already. Any delay of FAA/TSA approval could directly impact launch of JFK flights.
