Belgrade Airport eyes 2016 growth

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport anticipates another busy year in 2016. The airport's Managing Director, Saša Vlaisavljević, forecasts for the airport to register 4 - 6% passengers growth next year. Mr Vlaisavljević previously said the airport would record 10% growth in 2015, however, this figure was later revised and halved to 5%. Despite a strong start to the year, the airport saw its figures decline in August and October, with the trend expected to continue until the New Year. By November 13, Nikola Tesla Airport welcomed 4.284.800 passengers through its doors.

Will it reach the 5 million passenger mark for 2015?

Are the rest of the ex-yu airports going to have similar growth?

    1. I expect that SKP will have much more growth than BEG in 2016.

The growth estimate is CEO's best guess. And we all know his best guess isn't worth ... anything.

Why in the world would anyone make him the CEO of an airport. I understand he's doing what others tell him to do and that he's essentially a puppet, but even so, there is a degree of autonomy there, at least how well toilets are maintainted... and he fail at that as well. I'm sure an average "bot" would be a better CEO.

...or - he for sure he has the autonomy to make sure the panels on the lobby roof (pictured above) are uniformly colored and not like this - white, gray sometimes black and sometimes missing...

To sto nemate avion(e) i licencirane pilote nema veze ?

Mozda i neki ''veliki tata'' . Radovan Marinkovic. BEG shouldn't be an issue for JU getting the approval for US flights, as many airports world wide have a similar setting, that is security at boarding gates (SIN, CMB, KUL as examples).

However, BEG becomes a problem in the lack of investments in equipment, adequate widebody stands, services offered (food and retail), wifi is of poor quality, cleanliness etc. BEG simply has not moved at the same pace and in the right direction as JU has.

Duty free is criminal at best with astronomical prices, small cafes, no food proper food outlets, no smoking zones, poor wifi, no automated luggage system, small unorganized and chaotic arrivals, toilet facilities are not clean and are not all accessible for the mobility impaired. A lot of work can be done with small amounts of investment that could better the travel experience at BEG.

Does anyone know why Airserbia is not flying over Ukraine on its flights to Moscow?

Anonymous at 10:14: I work for business company and we have many flights from Europe to Russia on a daily basis. We received a note from our Russian agent that permits will not be granted to land or depart Russia if we intend to overfly Ukraine.

Ok, that makes sense. But doubtful.

I go to flightradar24.com and see different picture.
      Ellinair and Wizz are flying.

May be it is for charter flights, but Ellinair is not a scheduled service.

      So.....

      ^^^

Initially NOTAM's (notice to air men) were issued to avoid the eastern Ukrainian air space. However, since the downing of MH17, airlines including JU have opted to completely avoid airspaces over 'troubled'' territory. This is why JU is not flying over Ukraine to Russia (SVO) as well as Iraq and Syria enroute to AUH.

As most airlines have taken similar measures, not all have, which is seen for example with MEA who over southern Syrian airspace on a daily basis, as well as TK over Iraq to and from KWI etc.

This is more of a precautionary action to prevent another MH17 scenario. I hope this answered your question.
